Interestingly Vitali Klitschko wasn’t that highly regarded when he stepped in as a late substitute for the injured Kirk Johnson, to challenge Lennox Lewis especially since retiring in his corner in a title fight against Chris Byrd a few years before and he started off as a 4-1 underdog against Lewis so it really wasn’t seen at the time as a major league heavyweight title fight in the way that its seen in retrospect by fans today. You could argue that Wladimir’s title unification fight with David Haye has been the biggest heavyweight title fight since Lewis’s retirement. Certainly the most hyped up and maybe most anticipated title fight at the time but in contrast to the Lewis v Vitali, today due mainly to the uncompetitiveness of the fight and Haye’s subsequent fall from grace, it’s importance tends to be dismissed by current fans.
Since Fury is inarguable better than Wilder, and, at this point, it is safe to say probably better than Joshua, no.
Lol it's definitely not inarguable. Joshua just schooled Ruiz in a performance better than any we've seen from Wilder and Fury since Klitschko. Against a better opponent as well.
That is why I didn't say it was inarguable that he is better than Joshua, though I would still pick Fury at this point. No reasons to "lol" over something that I did not say,
AJ fought using the tactics Fury used against Wilder except he landed less punches and can`t slip shots the way Fury did v Wilder, AJ fought very nervous v Ruiz.
Sorry but Joshua wasn't impressive in that rematch. Ruiz was in such a terrible shape that any heavyweight would have won agains him that night. Seriously, his trainer, his dad and even Ruiz after the match criticized himself that he was partying way too much and it was evident by his weight, movement speed and stamina. AJ should have knocked him out. Joshua also had ridicuous reach advantage and still let Ruiz close on him not a few times. At close distance exchanges Joshua was still bad and I don't understand why. Because vs Klitschko Joshua was very good in that regard.
I don`t see how Joshua vs Wilder will happen. Wilder is dodging dangerous opponent from the beginning of his career. He don`t dare to face way lower opposition to Joshua, he ducked 120milion, to fight for 2 mil. against Ortiz, so the chances this fight ever happen are very slim. And lets be real, Wilder is doing what he want, they put Whyte on hold for 2 years, what is the chance Wilder man`s up and fight Joshua ? Also Wilder will 100% want the fight be in the USA, and Joshua team will want the fight in London, or at best at neutral place. So i really don`t see this fight happen.
