If he's willing to allow his cash cow Khan suffer another early ko defeat then maybe yes. If Khan wins and impresses then maybe Warren should look to one of the Golden Boy light weight tournament winners possibly Katsidis or Casa.
I can't see Warren lining up anyone that dangerous or Khan just now. I know marquez is WBO champ and the WBO love Frank Warren and all that but two defeats in less than a year would be too damaging or Khan, and therefore Warren. If Khan beats Barrera (which I don't think he will,) it's more likely Warren feeds of that for a while and maybe tries to line up one of the LWW champs for Khan rather than a pound for pound fighter.
No, one big name will suffice for a while. They don't want to take TOO many risks, even with aging warriors. Don't be lulled into thinking Khan's chin has gotta any better. It's still glass.
Not gonna happen. Barrera may be old. Quality should previal Barrera will KO Khan.I like the Pakistani fighter, buh..he hasn't been in with a fighter the level of Marco Antonio Barrera.
Thats a quick ticket to "Brain Damage" for Khan. Fighting Barrarea might get him there as well. Maybe Warren wants to get the kid done.
Dont know. Warren is in a unique posistion for him. If things go drastically wrong regarding Khan he still has the Olympians,Brook,Cleverly and Cox. He will make plenty of money of them domestically before they go international. They arent as tainted as the Khan logo(His Chin) Putting Khan in with people like MAB and JMM in his first 20 fights not only sends signals to the public, but the boxers themselves. Stick with me and you will get the huge names and acclaim, and you dont have to have 35 fights to do it. If Khan beats MAB, then loses to Marquez, Khan shouldnt be in any worse posistion than Diaz is today, in fact better(For one he would be a far bigger underdog than Diaz was, and the fight could take place in the UK). Going 1-1 with MAB and JMM, is not bad bad. Especially when he has limited time at the weight. For me this is a golden opportunity for Team Khan, if his last 2 fights at LW are against MAB and JMM, how can that possibly be worse for his career going into LWW than a KO from Prescott. The Risk/Reward is brilliant in his favour. He wont get a better one. Roach made it clear he wanted a say in matchups, he will see this. Definite possibility.
If Khan even struggles against Barrera it just confirms that he sucks. Barrera is toast at this point in his career. did you see his last 2 fights?
no other way but a rematch with presscott...he needs to beat presscott so that he would have a chance to fight valero, the likely winner of the tourney
