Little Paulo had not slept well that night, the temperature was warm and his fever had been running high. The next day in the sweat shop he could not concentrate. He had been told over and over again how to stitch the shoes together but how could he be expected to work like this? He couldn't even see clearly. One pair of shoes, then two pairs, before he knew it he was on his 38th pair of shoes in just a few hours. Every little detail stitched by Paulo. Into the box they went, onto the trolley and away. He did not know where they would end up, he didn't have time to think about that, nor did he care that the stitching hadn't been exactly right either. Pair 38 made it's way across the Atlantic, on and off vans, finally resting on a nice clean shelf in Bolton. "Come on Amir, we are already late, we need to go and get you some new boxing shoes." Amir's father yelled up the stairs. Down the stairs, a quick check in the mirror and off to sportsdirect.com for some new boxing shoes. Amir loved boxing. "That's the pair dad, I want these ones." A brand new pair of boxing shoes just for Amir. Pair 38. That night against Willie Limond, as a result of little Paulo's fever and restless night, his blurry vision and shaky hands, the stitching loosened just enough that the tight fitting boot around Amir's foot slackened, his foot slide and before he knew it, he was on the floor. Was it a knock down? Or did Paulo's work have more of effect than we could ever know?

 

He has very little punch resistance unfortunately. Each jab seems to momentarily stun him for 0.2-0.3 seconds. Each harder punch for 0.5-1.0 seconds. Watch some of his fights, a punch lands on his chin and he seems to freeze for the blink of an eye. Not wobble, not chicken dance. But literally freeze in place.
