If Khan wins convincingly, would he be an acceptable opponent?

    :D

    I grew up on SRL.

And the similarities and dimensions to their offense are striking.

However, once the chin factors in...........Khan drops 10X b/c Leonard could continue to fight after eating a Duran OH R. He could continue to fight after tasting Hagler's L hook.

Khan would be in a coma from a Duran OHR, and would in a full body cast for 6 months from broken neck from a Hagler hook.:lol::lol:

Leonard had a higher ring IQ than Khan. He was also better on the outside than Khan.

Khan wouldn't be #1 P4P even if he had a good chin.

Bradley or Brook would be the right step-up. If he beat either he can then face Mayweather.

Bradley I'm ok with...but Brook is splitting hairs a bit IMO. He beat Porter whose biggest wins are Paulie and Devon. Should Khan win, he would hold wins over prime Paulie and about the same Devon.

Prime Paulie is nothing and you know it. He's never got close to troubling an elite fighter.

Brook is much bigger at the weight, stronger and I believe he'd stop Khan.

In any case he's a world champion so would be a clear step-up.

brook does only have one win theres only so much credit you can give him the belts mean nothing, even though i agree id favour him over khan he is still probably a good match for floyd right now style wise

But surely Brook v Khan is the right sort of semi-final (if you like) before either could possibly deserve a fight vs Floyd?

Brook definitely has few names on his CV, but if most believe he beats Khan it's largely irrelevant.

he really only has one , the paulie who you say is nothing , past prime knocked out his second best win.

yeah that scenario is ideal, thats the way it should be but it would be the fairest choosing of opponent floyd has ever done

I won't disagree, he only has Porter on his resume, that's absolutely certain.

But if we talk about 147, Khan has nobody. Collazo and Alexander aren't wins deserving of a Mayweather fight.

It's ironic because had Khan spent time fighting rather than begging for the Floyd fight he'd probably be in a position in which everyone agrees he's deserving of the shot, rather than the situation he finds himself in now.

Khan isn't good enough to beat Floyd.

    L- 140, SD Lamont Peterson
    L- 140, TKO4 Danny Garcia
    W- 140, UD Carlos Molina
    W- 143, UD Julio Diaz
    W- 147, UD Luis Collazo
    ?- 147, ???? Devon Alexander

Not sure if Alexander is enough to make me get all excited about it. He'd be lesser than a 2014 Maidana or 2011 Ortiz for Mayweather. Most will complain once the fight is signed and pretend they didn't feel it would be worthy. The winner of Khan/Alexander will no doubt be a top 7 Welterweight, so that is good... Happy to see Khan "step up."

Good post. I don't think either is mouth watering, but based on some of Pac and Floyds recent opponents it fits the bill. I don't see Pac taking on Canelo at 154, or Floyd taking on GGG at 160 so the options aren't great. For Floyd at least Khan brings elements Floyd hasn't faced in some time, and Khan's awkwardness is interesting in both fights.

The only are I disagree with you in is in regards to weight. You seem to place more value at 147, and almost disregard 140. Why? It's not like Devon is better as a WW, or at least history hasn't proved it. So why are Khan's wins at 140 over the same fighters any less relevant?

Some people for example say 154 is Cotto's "comfortable weight" while his own resume calls bulls*t on that. His only wins come against very poor opposition.

Brook has been linked to JMM for Mar, so a bout with Khan could come off in the summer/late spring depending on when Khan fights next of if he even beats Alexander which I think is more likely. Either way a potential Undisputed WW Title fight in the fall could easily happen.
