For a change I agree with you bernieboy. Kostya hit the pro ranks in his absolute peak and physically declined gradually after that. He had been conditioned for the short game for many years and many fights, I think thats why he wasnt a stayer and had stamina issues. You will probably never find a harder, more intense trainer who mixes the best of the old and new school...but those issues he had were just always going to be there and were only going to gradually get worse as he aged. Believe it or not a lot of people said his power was the only thing missing from his game in some of his amatuer fights...so becoming a more grounded power punching fighter was probably the right adjustment for the paid ranks. So I definitely think there is some truth in the claim he fell in love with his power but at the same time I think it was the right move and came naturally as the difference between the two forms became apparent to Kostya.
With J Lewis training there was alway 6 rounds of stationary pads . This Squares most of his fighters up making them vulnerable to the right hand.Fenech got away with it because of his massive work rate. Fenech got older and his work rate dropped and he started getting hit.Tsyzu also stopped moving his head and became very square on.. Now to the question that was asked. Lewis has other qualities ,his fighters are alway in great shape and will walk through walls for him. Tsyzu was beaten once when he didn''t train and once when he was 37 after two operations. I give in could he have done better?
