If Kovalev beats Bhop, would be Kovalev vs Ward a bigger fight than Ward vs GGG?

    Depends if/when Ward comes back.

Hell need to shake off the ring rust first

And the when he comes back we'll need to see how serious he is about his career

    Don't think so.

Golovkin is THE hot item at the moment, and only if Kovalev blasts B-Hop out of the water and afterwards gets hyped up beyond believe it might be a bigger fight.

But also Ward's star is fading fast, and if the Ring is going to uphold their rules even a little, he might not even be the SMW champ anymore by then.

If Ward comes back, hell need to shake off the ring rust first.

Golovkin most likely will move up to SMW sooner or later, after getting bored of clearing out the MW division.

If/when Ward does come back, shakes off the ring rust and is serious about his career, most likely he will move up and challenege Kovalev at some point.

I think the possibility of Ward/Kovalev (if he beats BHop) is greater than Ward/Golovkin.

I would say so. Unified LHW titlist > MW titlist IMO, though both are fights I'd very much like to happen at some point. For me GGG is the more complete fighter, but the size difference and Kovalevs blistering offense can't be discounted.

Whether it'd be bigger in the financial sense is hard to say. My feeling is that currently GGGs probably the bigger draw, but that may well change if Kovalev makes it past BHops.

If Kovalev beats Hopkins, Kovalev vs GGG would be the big fight.

Who cares about boring semi retired homefighter Ward?

I'd rather see Kovalev vs Stevenson.

no but kovalev is the person ward should fight or adonis stevenson.instead of picking on the division below the one he has cleared out.

At the moment I think Golovkin and Kovalev have similar drawing power both have drawn a high of 1.3 million viewers. But Kovalev beating Hopkins is a big deal even against a near 50 year old Hopkins.

So yes Kovalev/Ward would be a bigger fight. Golovkin is still looking for the fight with a proven top fighter to legitimise his reign. If the Cotto/Canelo winner agrees to fight him then Golovkin will get that defining fight.

Kovalev is a significantly less skilled fighter than GGG but hes got power and size and I give him a better chance of beating Ward than GGG.

This is a fight that Ward could very likely lose as opposed to the GGG fight where most people would be picking Ward.

So based on the high chance of Ward losing, I think it would be the more popular fight.
