If Lacy & Kessler continue doing nothing, how will Joe be remembered in 30 years?

Since he fought Calzaghe, Jeff Lacy has won three low-key points decisions against mediocre opposition. He couldn't stop Peter Manfredo, a pretty poor light-middleweight fighting at 170lbs. No world title shot in sight. Rumours of retirement. He is 31 years old.

Since he fought Calzaghe, Mikkel Kessler beat Dimitri Sartison by KO in 12 in Copenhagen. He is due to fight Danilio Haussler (29-3-1) in Germany next month. He is 29 years old.

IF, (and I know this may not happen) but the question is IF Lacy and Kessler continue to fight mediocre opposition and never regain their pre-Calzaghe status, how will this affect Joe's legacy?

In 30 years will people remember the ridiculous and undeserved pre-Calzaghe praise for a fighter as limited as Jeff Lacy?

In 30 years will people remember how good Mikkel Kessler looked in a weak division?

If Joe does retire after the Jones fight, will he be remembered as a great if Lacy and Kessler continue to underwhelm?

Neither one of them are that good. And the wins on Joe's resume aren't that good either.

Wow thats easy to say after the fights......how many were saying that before the fights. Esp Lacy being tipped to KO JC and the performance on that night was one of the best shut outs i have seen.

Also i remember here on ESB alot of people tipping MK to KO JC an all and that too didn't happen. Short memories most ppl have.

Tho as in regards to the question the orignal poster posted, i have to agree, esp with Kessler. Lacy was beaten so soundly it can be hard to come back from that and with injuries hampering his progress too.

As with Kessler tho, if post JC he doesn't regain his mantle i feel that will have a negative impact on JC's legacy.

The better those 2 do the more praise Joe gets obviously. Calzaghe will still be remembered as an undefeated long reigning skilled champ. One of the best Britain has produced. Regardless of the ducking stuff Joe never actually turned anyone down that i know of

He will be remembered a bit similar to Marcel Cerdan I think. As a fighter who would be trouble for any atg and with a great potential who never backed it up - Cerdan more than Joe though. The true disciples of boxing will know his name and think highly of him h2h-wise but he won´t be ranked very highly outside of smw.

After that shoulder tear, Lacy will never accomplish much.

Kessler is another story. Guy needs to get his head straight. Either way this win will reflect quite well on Joe C's career.

Imagine this scenario: Calzaghe beats Pavlik, and then Pavlik never accomplishes anything significant for the rest of his career, how significant would that win be for Joe?

It's becoming ever more amusing to observe certain Pac huggers endlessly obsessing over Calzaghe since Floyd's retirement

dude Cerdan was rated 25th on ESPN's 50 greatest fighters of all time list. I don't think you can compare Joe C to Cerdan.

Pachugger? Actually read my posts on him you moron, before commenting on me. What has this question about Lacy, Kessler, and Calzaghe have to do with Mayweather?

You commented on my profile, yet yours says 'Journeyman'. Too ****ing right.

you do seem to go on about calzaghe a bit mate. seeing as you claim to think he's a pretty good fighter, nothing extraordinary i don't see why you always seem to be in the thick of any thread about him.

Calzaghe will still be remembered with or without Lacy and Kessler winning fights.Kessler is still gonna do some damage but Lacy is starting to fade,he didn't look good with Mendoza and barely won

Goddamn PACFAN, I've seen some ridiculously biased posters on this forum, but your hatred towards Calzaghe transcends even the gimmick accounts who sign up for the sole purpose of hating on a particular fighter.

Sometimes it seems as though you're jealous of the guy, refusing to give him any credit whatsoever, regardless of proper reasoning and actual facts (did he sleep with your sister or something?). For example, the idea that he waisted his career from 1997-2000-something is embedded in your brain and you absolutely refuse to see it any other way. Do you not see the flaws in your argument? It is your own opinion and while you're entitled, using that logic you can say the same about any other boxer.

Would you say that Kelly Pavlick "waisted" his career up until he fought Jermain Taylor? You most likely wouldn't, but I think it is more so because Pavlick is a possible future opponent for Calzaghe rather than looking at his resume and properly thinking about it.

As for the topic question, I wouldn't say so, but it really depends on the point of view of the fan. You would probably say that Lacy and Kessler were always weak opponents, but I could say that both Lacy and Kessler were very promising young fighters on their way to the top, and Calzaghe pretty much ruined them both.

If you remember (although with your biased perception I doubt it) back before each of those fights happened, Kessler and Lacy were highly touted and looked at as having too much power for old Joe, much like many are saying about Kelly Pavlick now. Well the hype on both of them was quickly and thoroughly extinguished by Calslappy whether you like it or not. The same thing could happen to Pavlick and frankly, I don't see how that fight would turn out any different than the last two.

I wouldn't be surprised however, if you start a thread about how Pavlick was worthless anyway if Calzaghe were to beat him in the future. That's how biased minds work.

What does this have to do with him calling me a 'Pachugger'? I work at a computer and can work at my own pace, am I to avoid Calzaghe threads? Forget it.

I read the first sentence and stopped. You are talking utter dog****. Take your accusations with you when you go into search, and type in 'Pacfan84: Calzaghe Hater' into the search engine, and then read the entire thread. I await an apology. Ba-bye now :hi:
