Suppose old man Larry fought Moorer rather than Mcall and Bald George fought McCall rather than Moorer. what would be the results of both fights?

Larry won five times in 1993 yet it was George who got the telephone call to meet Michael Moorer in 1994. George was 1-1 in 1993. Imagine it was a miss dial and Larry answered the call to meet Moorer?

One month after George fought Axel Schulz in his next fight after beating Moorer Larry challenged Oliver McCall.

Let’s say George fought Larrys guys in 1993 up to the Challenge and including McCall.

    What happens?

I can see Holmes losing a decision to Moorer, he didn't have the punch to stop him like Foreman did. I wouldn't be surprised to see Foreman decision McCall.

Interesting! Larry could beat moorer but I think he loses on points with Michael being that little bit busier.
Nobody knocks out McCall including old George so I think he loses on points too.

Well, if George fought the five guys Larry faced in 1993, he'd have met Bigfoot Martin, Jose Ribalta, Ken LaKusta, Paul Pourier and Rocky Pepeli. Considering George beat Martin and LaKusta years earlier, I'm sure he wouldn't have any problems with them in 1993. I think Bigfoot had eight fights between Foreman and Holmes, and lost seven. And Lakusta had five fights between Foreman and Holmes and won one.

So George beats everyone Holmes fought in 1993. Then fights McCall. Oliver isn't going to one-shot KO George, like he did Lennox. George likely won't stop Oliver, either. The thing with McCall, though, is that people praise his chin, but if you tagged him early he tended to play it safe. Bruno hurt Oliver early in their fight and Oliver kind of went into a shell until the fight was nearly over. Larry didn't seem to have the power to hurt McCall, so Oliver just kept coming.

I could see Foreman-McCall playing out like the Bruno-McCall fight did, (without the 12th round drama) with Foreman's jab dominating a fight where not a lot of punches are thrown ... and George winning unanimous decision.

On the other hand, if Larry had to fight Pierre Coetzer and Tommy Morrison in 1993 before fighting Moorer in 1994, I don't know if Larry wins any of those fights.

Larry may have gone 0-3. Although he may have gotten by Coetzer. But it wouldn't have been easy for him.

I think Larry could deck Moorer. He stunned Evander a couple of times. Not sure about knocking him out though. Larry was always pretty sharp.

Larry only lost by 1 point on two cards when he fought McCall.

I think McCall was all wrong for Foreman. Unlike holyfeild and Moorer, Oliver was a career heavyweight. Foreman selected s lot of former cruisers. He never really wanted anybody who could match him for strength. He knew he had to be the strong guy in a fight. McCall was pretty strong and bullish. Foreman was always strong but he knew he looked less strong when he fought physical guys. Early in his comeback he miscalculated Guido Trane, the Italian champion who he could not push back. Lucky for George Trane was not world class. He never selected that kind of guy again.

Outside of champions Morrison was the only Young and rated guy Foreman chanced his arm with. He lost that fight and the one with Alex Stewart. He was allowed to continue almost blind and got the decision anyway.

So I don’t see foreman get past McCall and I don’t see him beating Jesse Ferguson either. Jose Ribalta was the kind of guy George never fought. Long and tall, even though he was shot.

I found an article on this period. Until George won against Moorer, Larry was seen as the most credible of the two old chancers.

Holmes hasn't picked an easy opponent in Ferguson, who throttled Ray Mercer almost two years ago after Mercer had all but finished a deal to fight Riddick Bowe for the heavyweight championship.

Ferguson simply outboxed a sluggish Mercer in that fight, which prompted charges that Mercer tried to bribe Ferguson during the fight.

"He's got to remember one thing," the 60-4 Holmes warned. "I'm not Ray Mercer. I destroyed Ray Mercer. (Ferguson) beat him because I took everything out of Ray Mercer.

"He's going to see a lot of things he never thought he'd see against me. I'm not talking about taking him out in one or two rounds, but I'm going for it."

Ferguson has a 20-12 record, but Holmes has no thoughts of carrying Ferguson if at all possible.

"The last few fights, I've been taking it easy hoping to look bad so a champion would fight me. This time, I'm going out there to do my work, do my thing and take advantage of it.

"A lot of the time, I held back, but this time I'm going to take advantage.

"This guy here, I'm going to work to get him out of there. All my fights seem like they're hard, even the guys who can't fight, but Jesse Ferguson should not be a threat to me, and if he beats me, then I should retire."

It’s ridiculous," Holmes said of the 72-4 Foreman getting a title shot at the unbeaten Moore (35-0). "He hasn't fought in 18 months. He got his butt beat by one of the worst fighters in boxing, Tommy Morrison. It ain't how good you are anymore, it's who you know.

"You don't have to be a real good boxer to get a shot, just a comic. That's what Foreman is."

I am not sure. Anyone had the punch to stop Moorer. And Larry was a big enough guy. He would not do it with one punch, but he could. Moorer had an awful chin. Even at lightheavyweight he could be hurt.

Holmes was no-where near the hitter Foreman was. He ain't stopping Moorer out of the blue.

Cooper was a BIG puncher who almost had holyfield out with one punch.
Moorer beats Holmes. Moorer has become underrated over the years.

Choklab is fixated on george foreman hahaba

HOlmes could punch. ask Spinks or Cooney or anyone he fought. And he was a real heavyweight. Cooper was a little heavyweight and really a cruiserweight. If Cooper could get him in that trouble Holmes really could.

Sure, theoretically. But h2h at 45 years old i would pick prime Moorer over Holmes. Especially when you consider that due to the fact that Moorer is a southpaw and keeps his lead hand high vs Holmes low left which would neutralize Holmes jab to a large extent

Foreman beats MaCall . Moorer beats Holmes.

Larry almost ran away with a decision against MaCall using just a jab , which at that point was stiff and slow and nowhere near as good as Foreman's stun gun , power house jab.

He was beaten by Bruno who that that time was stiff as a plank and had terrible stamina. Foreman could easily replicate if not better Bruno's performance.

Look at Bruno's fight against Coetzer and look and 4Man's..

Bruno had a torrid affair and was forced to butt , elbow and shoulder his way to victory. George didn't need to resort to blatant fouling when he white washed Coezter.

You make it sound like Cooper couldn't punch. Vastly untrue.
