He has to actually fight good competition for that to happen though. I don't count Lemieux as much of a step up.
Should it happen, I would expect a rematch. Golovkin would need it to get the fans and "most feared man in boxing" claim back as well as legacy if that is something he fancies. HBO would need it to get the fans back on Golovkin. Plus I imagine a rematch, with this scenario playing out, would sell better than the first. Lemiuex would be cool with it because it'd be a big pay day again and I'm guessing he would enjoy the immediate attention and acclaim he would get. But most importantly, Golden Boy would absolutely be on board with a rematch. It would net them leverage with HBO, it would get them the big dollars, plus they could get Canelo a couple lesser-top ranked MW's for his first couple title defenses while the two of them tangoed again. Canelo isn't afraid of anyone, he has proved that much, but the promoter is always looking out.
GGG will have a Monster in front of him. Remember - "what goes around...". This kid is stronger, faster, and hits so much harder. And the kid has a great jab and uses it. GGG will have more than his hands full.
Serious or trolling? I've been reading this opinion more than I thought I would, but only from posters who are Golovkin fanboys. So it comes across as "hyping the fight" and trying to make the opponent sound good so when the fighter they are actually rooting for wins, they can say "wow what a tremendous win against such a strong young hungry lion!"
It's not just about punching power. It's also about ameture pedigree, chin, balance, experience against top 10 fighters, ring generalship and footwork. I just don't see David's disadvantages in so many areas being off set by his speedy power, but we will see. Very excited to see the fight
Yes he does have very fast hands. I will use an old Holyfield quote.... "Yeah, Mike may punch harder than me, but I can take it. He may have faster hands than me but I can handle it. Now, I can punch pretty hard and I have pretty fast hands to, so can HE take what I do? That's my question."-Evander Holyfield That's pretty much how I feel about this one, except that I doubt Lemuiex hits harder. GGG is much more likely to handle what Lemuiex does than vice versa, IMO.
Golovkin is Lemieux on steroids, if Lemieux had his flaws fixed, suddenly became extremely skilled and got a good beard, he'd be Golovkin.
If this happens, i'd start praying because it'd be a sign of the apocalypse Pigs will fly before this happens anyway. GGG will flatten this guy and anyone else in his way to supers****om
My only wish is that the better man on the night wins. whichever it may be. I believe GGG stops Lemieux late
I think GGG gets him before 6 but I've seen some footage of Lemieux and although he hasn't fought someone like GGG, he does look like a beast
