...would that make all the belts meaningless?? Would he automatically be considered "THE Undisputed" champ at heavy???

Remember, he never lost his title in the ring......

No he doesnt make the current belts meaningless, due to inactivity.

Yet the only really relevant fight? Would be a Vitaly rematch:good

Lennox proved all he needed to prove during his day.

Anyone who talks about Ruiz or Byrd as unfulfilled challnges??
    Talks out their ass:good

I'd still to this very day favor Lennox in such matchups though theyARE TOTALLY IRRELEVANT TO PRIME LEWIS.

If they were all that?? They would have won their respective bouts and challenged when it was relevant:yep

At the moment Lewis would be world champion, but at 43, he would not be around for long.

To a degree Lewis is the reason boxing is in a mess. He failed as retiring champion to do his job and anoint a fight to find his successor.

Everone annointed Vitali as THE MAN but when he retired to avoid Rahman chaos ensued.

How was he supposed to do this? He retired after beating the #1 contender. Can't ask for much more.

    He says:

"I think fighter A and fighter B fight each other, then I would consider the winner my successor..."

Marciano beat Moore and retired, but Moore still had enough credability to legitmately deserve shot at the vacant championship with Patterson.

Vitali was a still a big factor in the division despite the Lewis defeat...

They don't need him to do that....they could do that on their own right?

Didn't they when Vitali fought Sanders? How does this fall on Lewis?

Marciano had nothing to do with Moore's credibility. That was done on his own merit.

Who is they? It was Lewis' championship no one has in this day and age more credability than him in deciding his successor.

They as in the people who grant the championship matches. They as in those who rank the contenders.

I don't get where you are coming from. Lewis couldn't make a title match. That's someone else's job. Lewis isn't supposed to name a successor, someone is supposed to step up and take that mantle. That's not on Lewis, thats on the HW of this generation.

Moore's effort against Marciano was a plank of evidence to show he could possibly be the Heavyweight Champion of the World in an era without the Brockton Blockbuster.

And that was on Moore. Not Marciano. Marciano had nothing to do with Moore's effort.

Lewis gave Vitali his shot. What Vitali did after it is on him, not Lewis.
