Suppose that Lennox joined the Kronk in July '89 as soon as he turned professional? How different would his career have been, and how many factors would have changed in heavyweight history?
I'm not so sure he still doesn't lose to McCall if that is the point of this thread. Guys get caught, especially at heavyweight. He was with Lewis when Rahman caught him. He was with Vlad when Brewster KOed him. Manny definitely made Lewis even better on the outside just like he did Vlad but he was still beatable.
He'd have still made mistakes no doubt but he'd have improved earlier in his career. Steward was good for Lewis.
We must remember this …Lennox is becoming more popular every year….there are people arguing that his chin was fine
IMO it would be like this: Furthermore, the ATG HW rankings would change. There would be no doubt who the third ATG HW is; I would be Lennox Lewis. And now let me fantasize. What if there was no defeat by Hashim Rahman? He was sure of one thing. That Emmanuel Steward was with Lennox Lewis from the beginning of his career. HW ATG list would change.
Who knows? Steward was good at picking up the pieces of fallen heavyweights like Lewis and Wlad and help them improve certain aspects of their game as well as coming up with new strategies that played to their strengths but how many notable heavyweights did he train successfully right from the beginning of their careers?
