After the two beatings Golota gave Bowe, Bowe I believe was Lewis mandatory. He very wisely chose to retire at that time. Let’s imagine though if Bowe had been stupid enough to fight Lewis at that point. How bad a beating would be have took? Lewis could be brutal and due to his intense dislike for Bowe then I think he would have given him a systematic beat down that could have made Bowe worse than how he comes across now. I think Lewis would have carried the fight to give Bowe the mother of all beatings. Thankfully this fight didn’t happen and Lewis blasted Golota inside a round instead.
It would have been a very competitive fight Triangle theories rarely work out Bowe wasn't exactly a fan of Lewis was he, so he has the same motivation on the night(I really wished it had happened) Lewis would have won I think but Bowe was always a live wire if the fight had ever happened
Was he WBC number at that time? I cannot remember, but that would have been a great time for Lennox to box him. If he has boxed him pre McCall 1 with crappy Pepe Corea as a trainer he would have lost and I’m a Lennox man. They were scheduled to box straight after McCall, but obviously that fight didn’t go to plan.
bowe was shot to bits golota knocked it out of him he battered him twice it wouldnt of gone well for bowe he was shot easy for lewis
In the time frame I am suggesting, Bowe stands about as much chance as what Chisora had against Fury last fight. Bowe was shot to pieces and Lewis was entering his peak period. It would have been a mismatch of severe proportions.
You are more confident of Bowe beating Lewis than his team probably ever had if stories I’ve heard are true. I just think any version of Lewis has Bowes number. When Manny got hold of Lewis it’s an easy nights work for Lennox, prior it’s certainly competitive.
What stories have you heard? I’m a big Lennox fan so would be interested to hear. I know that no one expected him to beat Bowe in the Olympic final. It was always going to be a couple of easy voluntary defences for Bowe after he beat Holyfield because he hadn’t earned any money up until that point. That’s why he clearly avoided Lewis then and it was so disappointing that he dumped the green belt. As a young fan, I wasn’t happy haha. Lennox under Corea was so disorganised and open to punches, I think Bowe with the best jab in the division at that time and his superior inside work would have given him major problems. Anytime from Hide onwards I agree that Bowe had majorly regressed and Lennox would have beaten him. His last decent performance was against ancient Gonzalez. It’s still such a shame that they never boxed in the pros. The needle was seriously real.
Lewis indeed spoke of still having interest in a Bowe fight after Bowe's fights with Golota. Something about hoping Bowe might have some stuffing left to beat out of him. That's how much he disliked Bowe.
