Let's revisit this in another few years to see what progress has been made. Loma's special, but can he handle the marathon of sustained dominance like Floyd did, or will he burn out?

That said, Loma's off to the best start I've ever seen out of any pro.

8-4 is possible for Salido, but you scored it 7-5 for Loma? You can't score a fight to save your life then.:patsch

Yes. I've never seen a pro off to a faster start. I'm sure if someone dug they could find some who also got off to such a blistering early pace, but there aren't many in the conversation (one of the better calls and guys I could see an argument for is probably Monster Inoue).

But to catch Floyd, it's a marathon, not a sprint.

    :good

To me he's a good prospect. He hasn't won a world title, but he's on his way. Best ever start? Not by a long shot, but I that's just my opinion. I didn't used to like him. I like him and respect him now.

Yeah...I think I still have Naoya over Loma, albeit by a very slim margin. Beating the number one guy in two separate divisions tips it in his favor, imo.

Lomachenko just made p4p top 10 fighter Walters quit. TBE! Mayweather never fought a guy that good in his prime.

This is such poetic justice. Floyd has not been gone fo a year and someone has already come along/emerged that is making him obsolete. That must really burn his ass.

He could beat old man Salido 10 times and it wouldn't make him better than Mayweather. His career is young. He has time to build a comparable resume. I wish he had of stayed at 126 and cleaned it out though. There were too many names there for him to leave that stacked division, and go to a thin one.

Cmon man. Don't give the haters a glimmer of hope. No, if he beats Salido he isn't better than Floyd. Floyd beat Chicanito in his 19th pro fight. Beat Angel Manfredy, Carlos Hernandez, Jesus Chavez, Diego Corrales, all better wins than GRJ, Martinez, and Walters despite Loma doing this in under 10 fights... please bro.

How anybody could think GRJ, Martinez, and Walters are better H2H Than Chicanito and Chico is beyond me. I don't even understand how this question could even be asked.

    This ^

Lomachenko equals Floyd in athletic ability but overtakes him in technical skills. Loma can blend his offence with his defence in a seamless motion, he doesn't have to hold and grab like Mayweather did. Lomachenko is on Duran/SRL/Napoles level completeness when you tick boxes on his skillset. The only questions still to be asked is just how tough he is. He's obviously tough, but how tough. Is he as tough as the greats? Time will tell.

You will obviously say Mnfredy, carlos hernandez chavez and drained corrales is better than what Loma did.
We're just going to all be speaking across terms. Ultimately with Mayweather, it's easy to discern what he's doing in the ring but with Lomachenko it's so hard to understand and read him. Lomachenko showed last night just how much better he is than an elite fighter.

Mayweather was so gifted down at the lower leagues, but Loma is a MUCH better technician.

That might just be the greatest performance that we will EVER see in that weight class.

Corrales was better than Walters would ever be. Floyd was an underdog in that fight and put on one of the best performances of the last 16 years. No way is Walters on the level Corrales or Chicanito period. Azumah would have destroyed Walters and so would have Paez Sr. Lol
