If Loma loses to Teo will it affect his legacy? If so by how much?

Lomachenko is an Olympic gold medalist a 3 division champion and arguably the most skilled and #1 pound per pound fighter of today arguably. If you don't have him in number 1 you have him in the top 5. Lopez is a young fighter barely with 15 fights 23 years old barely coming out of prospect level and is still not a fully developed fighter. If Loma lost and i mean los5 badly getting knocked out cold. Will that make Lomachenko over rated? If so by how much?. Would you change your view on how you see Loma ? Yes or no . Let me know your thoughts in this hypothetical scenario. I still got Loma stopping Lopez though

There are a lot of variables. How does he lose ko? close decision? wide points loss? Also what does Lopez go on to do? If he beats Loma and goes on to have a hall of fame career no shame in the loss (especially at the weight). If Lopez sort of fizzles out or loses some fights he shouldn't yeah it would hurt Loma's standing. Loma will likely end up a hall of famer but if he is truly the generational talent some think he'll find a way to win this fight, if not he's still great but not at that level

Absolutely if Loma loses he was absurdly overrated his fans have called him the most skilled fighter of all time. Unless Lopez goes on to be an all time great it's a legacy squashing loss of the highest order

An upset can happen anytime anywhere. Anything can happen in this kind of sport. If Loma loses this fight, I think that he can bounce back. Don't worry.

It could potentially be damaging to Lomachenko's legacy. Teofembot has fought exactly one guy w/ a pulse and that one guy, Commey, is right below world class.

But the way Lomachenko loses will factor heavily into it.

Does Lomachenko get robbed Pacquiao-Bradley/Horn style? No effect on his legacy.

If Teofembot dominates and puts a beating on Lomachenko like Froch-Bute? Lomachenko's legacy takes a huge hit.

If Teofembot is schooled round after round before landing a shocking come-from-behind KO, then Lomachenko's legacy takes only a slight hit.

I think it will hurt his legacy regardless of style or anything that happens after. Mostly because his fans have rated him to a nearly unreachable status as a boxing great. So far Loma’s accomplishments are good, but not ATG status. That’s coming from a guy who thinks his skills are phenomenal and that he is p4p number 1. That said, Teofimo has a punchers chance at best and Loma should win easily.

I think it will affect it pretty badly tbh.

Right now Lomas legacy is mainly based on how good he is as opposed to who he has beaten.

Beating Teo and unifying the LW division will still leave some of his detractors unsatisfied, just as it did with Crawford.

But atleast then he's fought everyone he could in his weight class and beaten them all so his legacy remains intact.

Losing takes a huge hit to that.

    Huge.

Right now some believe he might be the best ever between 126 and 135. If he loses, then no one will believe that.

If Loma is up 10-0 on the cards and loses by a surprise hail Mary KO, then it wouldnt affect it too much, if Loma loses a decision of any sort (with the exception of a robbery) it will ruin his legacy

Loma will dissappear and be completely forgoteen if he loses, nobody will want to fight him, high risk and low reward.

If Loma loses his career will go down the Nunn, Curry and Meldrick Taylor path.

Depends, if he gets dominated, then of course it does massively, he’s already fighting above his ideal weight against a big fighter.

Still expect him to get a dominant win though.

All depends how he is beaten, what happens in a rematch and/or what he does afterwards.

Let's say Loma gets stopped, was winning the fight handily and just gets caught, well it happens sometimes to the very best.

If he won the rematch emphatically then it could be seen as a measure of his greatness.

So a defeat and then getting revenge in style might actually enhance his legacy.
