The Akbar One throws a huge party by himself in his basement tonight if Linares wins., he'll be jumping up and down like a little girl on a trampoline
Overrated but not a hype job. He'd basically be like Terry Norris or Felix Trinidad who got beat by good but not great fighters such as Simon Brown and Winky Wright. People were maybe a little too high on Shane Mosley before he got beat by Vernon Forrest too. Guys like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr with no real talent are hype jobs.
This. Linares isn't a threat to Loma. Loma struggles with pressure and power, which are both things that Linares lacks. Linares is a good boxer and is quick on his feet, but Loma does everything better and Linares isn't that durable, since he's been brutally stopped by both DeMarco and Thompson at lightweight. Linares being an inch taller will be a nonfactor.
When you have posters bashing resume's of the likes of RJJ, Pacman, Mayweather, Calzaghe and Tyson. Saying they're not ATG, they either cherry picked and, or fought bums. Of course when these people see Loma/GGG's resume and people already saying they're the best ever, you're going to get detractors. You can nitpick any boxers resume's and find things to reduce the quality of each of their wins. Next you have the good old X vs Y vs Z tried and tested formula of boxing. People call Broner a bum, but he destroyed Demarco who destroyed Linares, so what does that make Linares? Are you guilty of calling Broner a bum? Many posters I have seen over the years has used this formula in one form or another, to push their own agenda. Heck I'm guilty of falling for this formula sometimes as it feels relevant to some match ups. The last issue is there is no way for us to know who would win in fantasy match ups. This in turn will put poster vs poster arguing over something that is worth a discussion, but will never prove anything.
Not at all he's daring to be great like no other fighter in the sport is doing and he's been doing it since he turned pro. He was the joint fastest fighter ever to become a world champion (should've been the fastest IMO). The fastest to become a 2 weight champion. And now he's daring to be great by trying to become the fastest ever 3 weight champion and he's not moved up in weight because he's a weight bully who was killing themselves on the scales either. He's taking on Linares who is the #1 or #2 lightweight in the world for his first fight at the weight. No 3 fights to settle into the weight or stacking the deck to such an outrageous degree that he's rolling with loaded dice before he dares to be great, I mean truly daring to be great.
