Glad everyone is in agreement on this thread. Loma was super special in his optimal weight classes.

Sooner or later he'd have lost to Shakur but up until that point he would have dominated more likely than not. Who knows though, Loma is kind of a hard guy to read and we don't know how consistent he would be with injuries or motivation or the war in Ukraine if he stayed at 130. For how talented he is, he was a bit inconsistent at times. Maybe he would have gotten complacent without challenging himself and been upset by a non-entity. It's why they fight the fights.

Not sure if it would've been possible given the politics but the what-if Loma had 130 locked out for the last decade all the guys that went multi-division through 130 would've been quite interesting.

Had Loma gone undisputed at 130, moved up to Linares once then immediately came back down and kept 130 locked since 2016, would Tank have fought for a title at 130 back then (or got himself a BS WBA Regular on his way) or just skipped straight to 135? What about Shakur when he was going through 130 on his way to 135? What would Navarette have been doing right now?

Absolutely nothing wrong with dominating a weight class. Too much clamour to fight in multiple divisions these days. Box at your weight.

    Hard to tell
He would obviously do better, but he didn't stay at 130

Great fighter at 130, but not the best I've seen

Yeah prime Loma at 130 beats Floyd and Pac in my opinion.

Realistically you'd not be looking at an undisputed champion. Maybe not even a unified champion.

No one wanted to fight him at SFW. He'd have taken mandatory after mandatory and seen out his career as a long reinging WBO title holder.

He left the division because no one fought him and beating Linares for the ring belt worked wonders for his career.

Staying at SFW isnt the dream scenario some think it is imo

    Pac debatable, Floyd? F*** no

    Doesn't sound too confidentd

Floyd's iq and defence too much. He was a beast at the weight. He also has much better punch stats. Loma being a trex won't help either

Floyd is greater and EVERY ranking authority will state the same

Loma stops Shakur at 130 during 2021-22 when Stevenson finally entered the division. Stoppage or wins 9 rounds. More dominant than the win over Haney.

I've been thinking about this a lot since Loma retired.

Loma left 130 for a reason, nobody would fight him.

The Mexicans were all running scared. Berchelt, Valdez and Vargas absolutely refused to fight him. They were only milking it to fight each other. Machado would have been embarassing.

Herring and Takeshi Miura might have stepped up to the plate, but who cares...

Gary Russel jr. showed zero interest in the rematch at 130.

Twink Davis would have ducked that fight harder than he did at 135.

Yep and a lot of the young guys at 135 only found their nuts and started calling out Loma when he was in his mid 30's and showing signs of slowing down.

Shakur apparently gave Loma a hard time in sparring and called out Loma right after the Haney fight, so I think Shakur knows that he has the goods to beat Loma.

Haney is levels below Shakur. Not as talented, not as skilled, and his defence is like Margarito’s compared to Shakur. Shakur can fight on the inside, he can potshot on the outside, and he can counter all day from all ranges. Loma isn’t that big of a puncher and Shakur is one of the best defensive fighters of all time. I highly doubt Loma would stop Shakur.
