If Lomachenko loses on Saturday, how will it affect his legacy?

I don't think it'll affect it too badly. He's still accomplished more in 15-16 fights than most fighters do in their whole careers. He's tied for fewest number of fights to win a world title, and holds the record for fewest number of fights to become a 3 weight world champion.

Depends. If Teo puts a beating on him it does. Technically unless Teo stops sitting down on every thing Lomachenko should be able to get around his punches. Lomachenko is much faster with a much better defense. If Teo walks him down and bangs him out then that is Lomachenko's ceiling in terms of weight and would probably cause him to drop back down which at this age isn't always successful. A serious crossroads for Loma's career there.

But if he gets one shotted in a fight he's dominating you can still shrug your shoulders and go "That's boxing" and see how the rematch shakes out.

I'm watching Lopez fights, and TBH, I don't think Lomachenko will have too much trouble with him.

Same. Lomachenko took a paycut to make the fight happen. If you watch him training a lot of it is pressure and grappling focused. He plans to put the pressure on to keep Lopez from being able to sit on those power shots. Bet the house on Loma.

Lomachenko has always been an inside fighter though. He doesn’t get much done outside besides the straight left to the body. Everything else is him applying pressure and trying to get his inside work done. So yes. It will be Lomachenko as usual, feinting, inching, and moving around Lopez before jumping on him, planting a few, Lopez jumps back, Lomachenko tries to keep proximity while orbiting him to keep that mental pressure on.

Lomachenko can be walked into punches, it’s the risk his style brings. Why Lopez has that punchers chance. And also why I don’t see this going the distance. I don’t believe in Lopez’ stamina/grit/output.

I just think he's a bit too telegraphed for a guy as sharp as Loma. Guess we'll have to see.

I think a ko defeat would have a devastating effect on Loma's legacy! Lots of people will say, that he was always grossly overrated, and never really that good.

    That's what rematches are for.

He does telegraph a lot. You’re right. But he’s also very fast and punches from Lopez will land. Lomachenko is especially vulnerable when he picks up the pace, and Linares showed despite Lomachenko being an insane mover, a few pivots on him are highly effective for having him turn blind into a punch during his rapid, powerwalking, pressure mode. Not sure Lopez has the educated feet for a slick move like that though.

Fair point. I'd argue Linares was a super experienced champion and had all off the speed of Teo, but he threw with more snap and accuracy. Linares had a far more complete arsenal. I think that Linares would dust Teo too.

I think Linares' speed was troubling Loma together with his size. Lopez hits harder but is slower and more predictable. Going out on a limb here: I think Lomachenko is going to take Lopez behind the woodshed and Lacy him.

I'll repost my article on that fight just clarify my thoughts. https://imgur.com/gallery/txmk3NB

TL/DR It was the forward pressure combined with hooks to the body that punished a lot of Loma's lateral movement. The KD was Linares timing Loma settling on the line to attack. But Linares did best coming forward body punching. So did Salido.

And let me guess, if Loma loses its because he's "old"?
