Hmm, well difference for me is that I don't believe Maidana is a better boxer than either of those two you mentioned. If you gave Paulie Maidana's power then I personally believe he would have beaten Khan. Problem is Maidana's boxing style, for fight fans it's great, he goes in, throws caution to the wind and just goes slugging. Many times he throws a punch AFTER his opponent as already sent one incoming to his face, as if he's saying I don't care if you're about to smash me in the face, I'll be able to give you one back at the same time.. It's brilliant. However when you face someone with Khan's speed I don't think its the way to to be fighting.

I've never read so much tripe in my life, A fan favourite like Froch? amir has more fans than him, and is a bonafide star in the country, unfortunately cant say the same for Froch. And Froch didnt exactly go to war with Abraham, he "got behind his jab"used his brain and boxed him, and got all the plaudits he deserved because of it. Infact it was his career best performance.

And how do u explain Pacquiao getting knocked down by a jab from tiny Nedal Hussain, being on his last legs and needing 17 seconds to recover? yet can take haymakers from Margarito and Cotto? So are we to take your word over Roach and Ariza? If anything you're the clueless one.

  4. Fans favourite doesn't mean has more fans.

Take my word over Roach and Ariza?, You obviously are incapable of reading, my post states that neither of them have ever said they have improved Khan's chin, only morons like yourself who fail to read things and make up your own interpretations.

And as stated above, fans favourite has nothing to do with the number of fans you have

So what is a fan favourite, if not somebody who will get people to go and watch his fight? The way i see it, the more ppl who turn up, the bigger fan favourite you are. Bums on seats. Froch couldn't get the reception in Nottingham that Khan got in Newcastle.

And if you cant improve a chin by going up in wiehgt and improving your balance and build, how the fck is Pacquiao taking bombs off Cotto and Margarito, yet was falling around like a sissy againt Featherweights?

Pac always saw their shots coming. Marquez is a far better counter puncher than either man. He landed with laser-point accuracy just where Manny was most extended.

And what of Nedal Hussain, and the two blokes who knocked him out? I cant speak for the two who knocked him out, but Nedal had him rocking and rolling for most of the fight, and he is far from your text book boxer like Jmm.

And there's no way he saw some of the shots Cotto and Margarito threw, the two that come to mind are when Margarito landed that peach of an uppercut in the 4th or 5th, and the left hook on the button that Cotto threw out of nowhere when he had him against the ropes in the 7th round. Its obvious moving up in weight and his work with Roach/Ariza has done wonders for his ability to take a punch.

Likewise sir, you are incapable of reading my post. Which I assume you referenced in one of your former posts. I never argued that Roach nor Ariza claimed to have strengthened Khan's chin.

Nor did I claim that you can put muscles on your chin.

Nor did I claim that Khan's muscular redistribution has strengthened his chin, I claimed that a formed coach of mine believed stronger legs meant you could resist a shot better. His reasoning for this was that when someone gets hurt, they're legs go, and can no longer support them. Therefore stronger legs means when you get tagged, you are less likely to go down.

Do I believe this? No, but I like you, do not know the mechanisms of the human body that attributes to weak chins. I will bet also that neither of us know exactly what happens during a KO.

What is clear however, is that the fitter you are, the faster you recover from a shot. Therefore, with Khan teaming up with Ariza, a top conditioning coach, his fitness will be phenomenal. If Khan ever was stuggling to make LW, then it stands to reason that by stepping up to LWW his body will be better conditioned and therefore better at taking punishment.

None of this however, makes a blind bit of difference when fighting some like Maidana. I never claimed Khan's chin was now made of bricks, I never claimed he would stand up to the heavy artillery of Maidana. All I claimed was, I personally believe his chin will be slightly better than before.

I think you can answer the second part yourself, assuming you have some form of Intelligence and some education... why would putting weight on your body, and improving your balance.. make any difference at all to the structure of your jaw and head.... It doesn't.

This misconception came about on these forums because someone on here was explaining about how being weight drained / Going up in weight can improve your punch resistance when taking body shots, which is completely different to chin.

As for Pac, you're seeing a correlation in something that isn't really there. Fighters get hit in the face and go down, you're seeing him go down at super feather, yet appearing to take harder shots at welter and so your jumping to the conclusion it is his weight that's made the difference. Ask yourself this.. in over 100 years of serious boxing training, why has nobody ever bothered to attempt to improve a fighters chin by training, if it was the case there would be a whole section in camps dedicated to training these muscles, working on it... they don't, because a long long ago it was realised the mechanism isn't something you can do a great deal about.

A fans favourite is someone who is highly regarded among boxing fans. A fighter whereby when his bouts are on boxing fans think "Ah great, X is fighting, I am pretty sure this will be a great bout!", Froch has it because people know when he gets in the ring, he goes to war, he'll take a beating but give one back.

On the subject of Froch's general exposure, If Froch gets sky coverage as is expected, and fights another 3-5 times like he has in his last 5 fights.. then he will be probably the biggest attraction in UK boxing. It doesn't matter how good a boxer you are, the people who matter, the casual boxing fans want one thing... knockouts and wars and heavy punching. Yet to someone with a response like yours, Froch Kessler is just a Froch loss, it's something to think less of the guy about, another reason why X fighter is more popular than him... Yet to casual fans, Froch Kessler was exactly what they want to see, 2 guys smashing each others faces in. Assuming he has a few more of them in him he'll be a superstar

Most of your examples were a LONG time ago. The weight might have helped a bit, but I think it's been slower opponents that have made the difference.

Cotto was effectively done after the fourth round. He was so badly hurt he wasn't planting his feet properly - he was just trying to survive.

Margo's never been a big puncher, even at welter. He was an accumulation puncher.

Pac admitted he's been hurt by both those guys though - so it's more a matter that Marquez was landing a lot more. Maybe Pac wasn't as physically mature. We know he lost at the beginning of his career because he was fighting at too low a weight.

Exactly, its simple physics, a block shape will stand up better than something V shaped. He should have stayed in school. :nut
