    Err no!

Manny rarely threw more than 700 shots before he hooked up with Ariza

I don't think you get the point.

    Drugs don't help you box.

But they let you punch harder, for longer.

Manny is more effective now, as he punches harder for longer

5 years ago, he'd be finished by round 7, punching that much

question: when you talk about the recovery process in boxing, if you do this a long time doesnt your body get used to this eventually, so you recover faster? Like running or working out when you first do it your muscles hurt a lot at first but when you do it daily your body will adjust and you recover faster, atleast thats my personal experience. I think for a guy like mayweather boxing is secodn nature to him so his body will be less hurt and recovers faster.

Obviously when you are a trained athlete and your VO2 max is already raised to a high extent you can recover a lot quicker. It's maintaining that peak through consistent fighting, sparring and roadwork that's important. PBF is a well known gym rat and I get the impression that like Hopkins he stays in great shape year round so he doesn't really have as many issues as a lot of fighters getting into that fighting shape.

Muscle memory. Your body gets used to the stress and strain during a training camp. Add nutrition, carbohydrates, protein, etc...and your body will recover quickly.

Peoples arguments about Pacquiao having greater stamina since he stepped up are missing the fact that, yes he may be throwing more, but he is connecting with more aswell. If Pacquiao was missing a great deal, and still throwing 1200+ punches, then yeah...you could probably question it. But he is connecting on the slower opponents consistently, and not only that, but taking breathers at certain points in rounds.

I don't know if Pac is on Peds or not. I tend to side with the viewpoint that he isn't.

What I do believe though is that people have been too caught up on the Manny fighting bigger guys thing. But if you break it down, Manny held more advantages over these bigger guys then they did over him. The one key factor is that Manny has maintained power. If Manny didn't maintain power then it would be more incredible pulling off these wins vs bigger guys. As he would have beat bigger guys who didn't have to respect it that's usually what evens out these fights and makes it competitive. The fact that he maintained power though makes it no contest as he has proven. As none of those guy have the style to match up with someone like that.

Sure these guys had size over Manny (though Cotto didn't even have a reach advantage) but that's it. Manny had more hand/foot speed, reflexes, athleticism, stamina (which is enhanced by not having to cut weight). To go along with a solid chin and matches these guys in power. Size along isn't good enough to beat someone with that much more attributes then you and power of his own. Which is why people need to get off the size thing. The fight with Cotto was only 50/50 because most didn't believe that he would carry the power.

Manny is the real deal at WW, but would still be beat by a guy like Mayweather Jr IMO. Since Mayweather will match him in the speed and athleticism while being one step ahead of him the whole fight.

Pac's always had stamina to go 15 rounds. that's just a stupid argument.
