If Marciano had fought and beat Patterson...

If Floyd had beaten Rocky, imagine what it might have done for Floyd's legacy...and Ingemar's...and Sonny's! I'm also wondering what todays boxing fans would think about Sonny Liston if he had retired as champion without ever fighting Muhammad Ali.

 

I rank Rocky the tenth best heavy of all time,anyway. A hypothetical win or loss would n't change it,imo.

 

Why does 1 lost drop Marciano out of most people's top ten any way. Marciano did all he can in his era.

Dempsey, Jeff, Johnson, Bowe, didnt do what they were suppose to do, and most often than not you find them on the top ten and all these guys had a lost here or there.

And that lost did not drop these guys out of the top ten for the most part.

Marciano clean out his era, lost or no lost. Thats all you can ask a guy to do. Sure perhaps a Valez fight would have been nice, but a lost should NOT drop the Rock out of the top ten.

It was not the 0 that made Marciano great. What made him great was he clean out his era, which Johnson, Dempsey, Bowe, and even Jeff failed to do.
