This is the original post which brought up the whole silly unconscious debate. Note that it says nothing at all about title challengers. Restricting the issue to title challengers effectively rules out close to 88% of Marciano's career, and is a tacit admission that the above statement is correct.
I didn't say he did not beat the count, I said it was debatable, and the commentary with the film agreed with me. How many lightheavyweight champions have won the heavyweight title?:think You're not doing too well are you?
No it is evaluating him when he was in his absolute prime as the reigning champion. I didn't raise the issue, Foreman Jab did and ,when asked that question he dissapeared . Bit Like Bummy not answering ,or you other fanboys not giving a reason why Marciano took so long to get fat,old ,or moderate men out if he was the great dynamite one punch ko artist you are arguing he was! If the shoe was on the other foot and all the fights where he rendered opponents unconscious were as Champ, you would be screaming at me for cherry picking his bouts when he was green! Now,how about old : Willis Applegate? Care to give us the lowdown?
"I didn't say he did not beat the count," This doesn't even make sense. "I said it was debatable" And I said it isn't as the slow-motion film shows Walcott is clearly still sitting on the floor with his glove on the canvas at ten. I'll go by the filmed evidence. "How many light-heavyweight champions have won the heavyweight title?" Two recognized world champions--Fitzsimmons and Spinks. One recognized American champion--Tunney. One recognized European champion--Schmeling ------------------------------------------------------------------- There were also Jimmy Braddock who lost in a challenge for the light-heavyweight championship but later won the heavyweight title. Ezzard Charles was picked by The Ring (and at times by others) as the top light-heavyweight of the 20th century, but never got a shot at the title. He also won the heavyweight title. Of course, most of these men moved up in weight as Moore did. "You are not doing too well are you?" Well enough that I'm not so insecure that I have to step out of the role of advocate and assume that of the judge to pat myself on the back.
TWO is the correct answer! Commentator ="did he beat the count or didnt he?" I say no ,but the commentator thought it debatable, hence my use of the term. Poor old Teddy Morbid Now back to Willis Applegate!:good
What about Willis Applegate? He was stopped 3 times by TKO. There is no record of him being knocked down and the only description boxrec has of any of his TKO losses is a cut stoppage. Is it possible he's only been stopped for eye cuts? Something Maricano wasn't exactly the best at inflicting? Any information on the Oma and Gene stoppages?
Mendoza is easy to rip ,because he is illiterate and you never forget whom you are arguing with, but I'm getting seriously confused twixt you and Teddy Morbid on the other thread,I'm starting to feel like a tennis umpire!
In other words you know nothing about Red like the rest of us. Not enough information to draw any sort of conclusion regarding Marciano fight.

I have put you in your place more times than I care to count.
Oh ,sorry I thought it was a genuine inquiry not a poorly laid trap.:hey The Brooklyn Daily Eagle. "Handsome Lee Oma of Detroit ,looking unusually fit and well conditioned stopped Willis Applegate in the 9th round.Oma discarded his usual flashiness and centered his attack on Applegate's head and body, almost from the opening bell.In winning the dark haired Detroiter displayed the finest form he has shown since knocking out Gus Lesnevich in 1945." " Oma battered Applegate and had him defenceless and staggering when the referee intervened". I made the last bit up.:yep
In the immortal words of John Wayne ,[Ethan Edwards,] in: The Searchers , " That'll be the day" NB Buddy Holly nicked that for a song title. No charge for the education Rainman.
You remain a sad cancerous old man, who gets rear end handed to him every month here. I'd offer you an education but your too bigoted to learn. I suggest you pay attention to the lyrics in the Gambler song by Kenny Rogers . It will make your life a bit easier. Know when to fold em. Know when to walk away. Know when to run.
You talk about educating me, then make two mistakes in 4 sentences. Do you want to discuss E Mails about Joe Choynski that you pretended were inquires to arrange a fight?:deal You shameless coward.
That isn't much to go on. There is no recrord of anyone dropping Applegate and all but one of his stoppage losses lack any sort of specifics. There is also no footage of the Marciano fight. If the descriptions we have are accurate, he would appear to be the only man to freely exchange with the Rock and see the final bell.
Why are you asking me for info? I originally asked you! If I knew Jack **** to my advantage, don't you think I'd have rammed it down your throat by now.:huh
