How many rounds does Don ****ell go with George Foreman? How about 177lbs Harry Mathews, does he make it out of the first round? Forty, going on forty two Moore, does he go into the ninth round dropping Foreman in the first round, surviving 5 knockdowns. Moore was kod in one round by lhvy Leonard Morrow when he was a prime31 years old, kod by Lhvy Ezzard Charles ,dropped 5 times by Eddie Booker, Knocked down 6times and kod by Jimmy Bivins. His chin was not great, yet as an old fighter he goes into the 9th with the champion? A year later Patterson took him out in5 rds with one left hook. Yeah I know, wanker ,blah, blah ,blah.
So great is Marciano's power that these fights are used in criticism of him. -The 26 year old Roland LaStarza's first career KO loss in 56 fights. -All time Great 38 year old Archie Moore's first KO loss in 7 years and 62 fights.
mind you, pushing a 38 year old isn't a strong argument, even an exceptional 38 year old. its rather expected that someone would have stopped him at that point, much like you expect bhop to get stopped more often these days.
Lastarza was a carefully managed fighter, Marciano was the only real puncher he faced .Lastrza was dropped by 179lbs Rocky Jones two fights before he challenged Marciano. Moore was kod cold by lhvy's when he was PRIME.
-Who knows, its all about the match up to the particular fighter. Marciano would have probably KOed Jimmy Young. -Forty going on forty two. Morrow sucker punched Moore on a glove touch. He was punished in the rematch. Charles is a bad bad man. Bivins had a huge weight advantage in the fight. Bivins was dangerous he was the bigger man. He also hit Moore while he was down. Going back to the MW days? Well, in the previous 7 years actually leading up to Marciano, Moore had not been stopped by any HW or LHW.
-So? Maricano was the first to knock him out. Why did it take so long? Just watch thh fight, he was fast and elusive and needed to broke down. Wow, just 5 lbs lighter than Maricano. -The only LHWs who stopped him was the great Ezzard Charles once in three fights and a sucker punch from Morrow.
Yeah he wasn't a great puncher, Marciano hit harder than Louis according to Walcott and we all know how much of a featherfist Joe was....
Carnera-260lbs, Buddy Baer-250lbs yeah you're right Louis only fought fighters that weighed 180lb. Were you a slave or something?? And I can believe Butterbean hit harder than Tyson ok ******??
Yeah give him a good weight gaining programme and I believe he could punch on the same level as Tyson within 6 months.
he does indeed. though I would suggest that its probable Dawson has really already done it in their first fight.
Jimmy Young at 6'2" and 213lbs would have been by far the biggest class man that Marciano fought as champion. According to the San Francisco Chronicle; Morrow landed a left-right that dropped Moore for a six count. After Moore got up a little shaky, he pulled back into a long left hook, which floored him for a nine count. Moore got up wobbly, but pushed Morrow back with a flurry to the body. As he plunged forward though, Morrow tagged him with a straight right that stretched him for the full count
What a ****ing load of ****. Louis was rated by The Ring as the greatest puncher in history. His popularity had nothing to do with colour; it was his talent and ability to excite that was responsible for that.
