Joe Louis took some guys the distance that were KO'd by others. You could say the Same for Sonny Liston. The films and KO% shows Rocky was a great puncher. Rocky moved people violently when he landed. Perhaps not the most accurate puncher. Perhaps not cunning puncher, but a very good one for sure. Oh wait, you're the guy who thinks Marciano was slow handed. And why was that? Do you think Louis slow feet had something to do with it? It took Louis 11 rounds of pounding on Abe Simon to stop him. Yet Buddy Bear waxed him before in 3 rounds, and Lem Franklin did the same job just a few months later in 5 rounds. If you are going to play your usual game of double standards in a lame attempt to make a point, you're going to lose. No man who fought Rocky said his power was over rated. Even Ali who sparred with a much older Marciano for the " super computer fight "was impressed with his power. At times YES. Films and testimonials will show you. As for Charles he stood right in front of Louis and engaged him for 15 rounds. Louis had Ko'd 15 of his last 17 prior to facing Charles. The two he did not KO were Wlacott, and the DQ win over Bear. Yet Walcott and Charles are used by you as exhibit A and B.
Young Foreman never put light heavyweight Peralta on the floor in 2 fights and much KO'd Levi Forte went the distance with him, old Foreman LD to Saverese,W10 Crawford Grimsly, WSD Alex Stewart,L 12 Tommy (small chin) Morrison and W12 Alex Shultz. Lennox could not KO'd Levi Billups and Ossie Ocasio Shavers went the distance with Vincent Rondon who was already Ko'd by middleweight Bennie Briscoe and Jose Gonzales and lightheavyweight Bob Foster in 2 Liston went 10 with Burt Whitehurst 2X and Burt was KO'd 2X by Archie Moore in the same time frame Layne was considered a young tough and next Champ, he got off the floor against Satterfield and had beaten every man to beat him with a 34-1-1 record, Marciano ruined him with one shot, Walcott was a fit 38 year old and feeling good as Champ and aheaD WHEN ONE RIGHT HAND RUINED HIM. Matthews was highly ranked and LaStarza had never been ko'd and had beaten every man to beat him except Marciano at 53-3, some took a beat-down like Moore some went out by bombs like Joe Louis but there was no doubt that the punches were lethal and hard to recover from. really hard to say if anyone certainly had more power
I don't consider you people ,you've been bleating to another about being taken to task for childish insults. Get over yourself its embarrassing. The point of mentioning Morrow was to demonstrate that Marciano koing Moore in 9rds,[ a Moore who was 10 years past the date when Morrow took him out ], was no unique feat, it waisn't a comparison of relative power between Morrow and Marciano That's twice I've explained it ,hello anyone home?atsch You having to have points explained to you is surprising I thought you had more sense, but you're really just a fluffy bunny aren't you. I couldn't give a **** who is rude to me I can take care of myself verbally ,you were attacking the posters on the thread in general, not me specifically Why I still don't know.:huh I am personally ripping you ,not anyone else just to be clear. You couldn't shock me my little sweetie, Ive been around the block too many times to let an emotional cripple like you faze me. Copy and paste that to McGrain, as if he gives a good ****. I've had a great evening ,just got back from watching "A Streetcar Named Desire ",terrific performances and viewed in the company of good friends. Your imput here is an irrelevance to my day. You just keep on INDULDGING
McVey has very clearly laid it out for all to read and for some strange reason, certain posters can't grasp the simple argument he has placed with facts.
You've read a lot of my posts yet you joined a few days ago?:think I think its pretty clear you are an alt who couldn't make an impression under his previous guise and so trolls nonsensical fan boyism like a virus. All the time you are unhappy with my output, I'm happy with its content:good
Best way to spot an alt is when they talk about your post history. Despite being a member for literally a couple of hours
Archie Moore said Durelle was a harder puncher than Marciano. Charles stood right in front of Marciano for 15rds too but Marciano was not 36 years old and past his prime. Charles was the reigning champion and a prime 29years old when he beat a faded Louis over 15 rds. He was 33 when he met Marciano and had another 4 years wear and tear on his body, in the mean time he had lost to Johnson ,Valdes,Layne and Walcott x2 being badly ko by Walcott in one of their fights . Additionally Louis was coming out of a two years retirement when he faced Charles, do you think he might have been a trifle rusty ,timing slightly off?atsch Spot the difference? Try harder ,it's not so much fun when it's a walkover.:-( Double standards
You want to make comparisons ? Fine! Young Foreman ?Yes ,20 years young ,with only15 fights under his belt faced 90 fight Peralta who had been stopped precisely twice beforehand one on a cut eye. He would have a further 26 fights and be stopped just once ,by Foreman. Peralta a light heavy? He had not been one for 4 years, he weighed 197 for the first Foreman fight, 196 for the second , half a pound more than Walcott did when he defended his title against Marciano! Marciano's failure to stop the men I named occurred when he was the reigning champion and bang in his prime. Foreman was a green 20years old when he faced the cagey ,defensive, extremely durable Peralta. A year later Foreman stopped Peralta. Did George knock him down? No he didn't the referee intervened before he had the chance. Here is the report. "Foreman staggered Peralta with two left hooks in the seventh round. Foreman never dropped Peralta to the canvas, but referee Elmer Costa gave him an eight-count after he lay helplessly against the ropes late in the tenth round. After Foreman blasted Peralta into the ropes again, Costa stopped the fight." Peralta was not dropped in 2 fights with Ron Lyle either, in fact at the age of 38 he drew with Lyle. Neither could power puncher Urtain floor Goyo. Likewise Foreman was in his 11 th fight when he fought Levi Forte. The other examples you provided are when Foreman was 45,46,47 ,and 48years old. How many super heavyweights do you think Marciano would be koing if he had lived and fought to 48years old?atsch Lewis 's story is pretty much the same he was having his 12th fight when he met Ocasio. Lewis was 2 years away from beating Tucker for the WBC title when he beat Billups.Billups had just gone the distance with Bonecrusher Smith could he punch? Mathews was never ranked as a heavyweight. Lastarza had been dropped by178lbs journeyman Rocky Jones two fights before he faced Marciano and in the fight before that Jones beat him . Lastarza has a very padded record, he avoided lots of guys and many names that should be on his resume are conspicuously missing ,the fact that he received a title shot illustrates the lack of depth in the division at that time. Layne was an inferior version of Marciano sans the conditioning which made all the difference, he was always soft in the belly and the early body shots took all the steam out of him . He was kod after taking a concerted beating.Oh and Marciano did not "shear off his teeth at the gums ", as some claim , he cracked his bridge work. Now, since I have comprehensively owned you with this post,I expect you to be promptly delivered by air -mail . I've cleared a place on my mantelpiece for you. See you soon.
I wasn't slaughtered by anybody. how can you reason with people that not only don't accepted the reports and scribes people cite, but also claim that they don't exist! I haven't been slaughtered by anyone mcvey, you & your partner just refuse to acknowledge the material I cite and I have hundreds of them... I've been reading this board the last week or two and as I've said dozen's of times you both hypocritically allow the same boxing occurrences (poor decisions, making weight, fighting outside your weight division and so on), to loads of other fighters but not Mr Gilroy of course. thank God some other people I've dealt with over the years also have the reports & material.
