Charles stood right in front of Marciano for 15rds too but Marciano was not 36 years old and past his prime. Charles was the reigning champion and a prime 29years old when he beat a faded Louis over 15 rds.

He was 33 when he met Marciano and had another 4 years wear and tear on his body, in the mean time he had lost to Johnson ,Valdes,Layne and Walcott x2 being badly ko by Walcott in one of their fights .
Additionally Louis was coming out of a two years retirement when he faced Charles, do you think he might have been a trifle rusty ,timing slightly off?atsch

Young Foreman ?Yes ,20 years young ,with only15 fights under his belt faced 90 fight Peralta who had been stopped precisely twice beforehand one on a cut eye.
He would have a further 26 fights and be stopped just once ,by Foreman.
Peralta a light heavy? He had not been one for 4 years, he weighed 197 for the first Foreman fight, 196 for the second , half a pound more than Walcott did when he defended his title against Marciano!

Marciano's failure to stop the men I named occurred when he was the reigning champion and bang in his prime.

Foreman was a green 20years old when he faced the cagey ,defensive, extremely durable Peralta. A year later Foreman stopped Peralta.

Lewis 's story is pretty much the same he was having his 12th fight when he met Ocasio.

Lewis was 2 years away from beating Tucker for the WBC title when he beat Billups.Billups had just gone the distance with Bonecrusher Smith could he punch?
Mathews was never ranked as a heavyweight.
Lastarza had been dropped by178lbs journeyman Rocky Jones two fights before he faced Marciano and in the fight before that Jones beat him .
Lastarza has a very padded record, he avoided lots of guys and many names that should be on his resume are conspicuously missing ,the fact that he received a title shot illustrates the lack of depth in the division at that time.

Layne was an inferior version of Marciano sans the conditioning which made all the difference, he was always soft in the belly and the early body shots took all the steam out of him .
He was kod after taking a concerted beating.Oh and Marciano did not "shear off his teeth at the gums ", as some claim , he cracked his bridge work.
