What does that say about Margarito?

What does it say about Cotto?

Will there be any excuses from the fans?

All depends on the manner of victory... Disputed Decision, Stopped on a cut, rash decision by referee Ect... What it comes down to is how clean a victory it is. A contoverial Decision will only bring up way more doubts in people's minds.

I am a major Cotto fan and think that his fight with Margarito will be alot easier than most people think, (i just have one of those feelings).

Having said that Margarito is no walk over. I just have a feeling we are going to see Cotto become the numero uno in the division.

If Margo beats Cotto then props to Margo, you have to respect the guy what you see is what you get.

If Cotto beats Margo he should be number 1 in the division.

If Margo beats Cotto he should be elevated to number 2 and Cotto at number 3.

It wouldn't change my opinion of Cotto at all. 1 loss on an already illustrious career wouldn't downgrade him much IMO. And unlike some on here I do consider Margarito a top world class welterweight fighter, so losing to him carries no shame to it. I have no doubts that Cotto would rebound back and regain his status at some point maybe even in a rematch.

Far as Margo goes, I think a win against an elite guy like Miguel would really make a lot of his detractors eat their own ****ing words because that would finally and defiantly prove that he is and always has been a great fighter despite some of that awkwardness that some of you claim as a sign of being a skill-less brawler.

Not sure where they'd both go from here though. I have a feeling that if Margo wins there's a great chance that Floyd won't elect to fight him. That possibly opens up the door for a Margo - Cotto rematch if the 1st fight was as good as most of us think it will be.

Or maybe Oscar tosses Tony a bone and selects him as his farewell opponent at 154.

Cotto will still be good. Just lost to the better man that night. Also Margo is better than we than most expected. I hate when people say that since a fighter lost once they are overrated, besides Williams

It confirms that Margo is an elite fighter

It says it was a bad match stylistically for Cotto, alot of that depends on how he would come back form the loss of course.

Even if Margo won I would still think Cotto was the better fighter unless he took an absolute beating.

If Margarito wins I predict someone will make a thread about how of a bum Cotto is.

That's not a surprise. That kinda **** always happens round here when a top guy is given his 1st loss and there are some no-nothing dimwits (cough) Floyd fans (cough) who already claim that Cotto is nothing. So those dumb****s will probably be the firsts to start such crap.

If Williams is overrated, how did he dominate Margarito for most of their fight? That makes no sense.

    not much for me.

i'm expecting a rough fight for cotto, but like so many times before this, i believe he will pull through.

but expect the board to be filled with "and you guys though this guy [cotto] could beat mayweather?AHHAAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! *insert 10,422 emoticons here*"

If Cotto's loses to Margo it would only solidify the fact that Margo's sheer size and strength where to much for Cotto to handle. There's no way Margo beats Cotto by outclassing him in a virtual boxing/chess match. I'm guessing I would lean towards Margo actually having more than just a shot at dethroning PBF as Cotto would be Margo's stiffest test to date and extremely close to the elite skill that PBF possesses. I feel the greatest seperation of makeup amougnts the above mentioned fighters is their skill level and technical ability. Don't get me wrong its obvious Margo has skill and is technically sound but not at the level Cotto is and both are below PBF's class. If Margo dominates Cotto it will mean he obviously has the tools to offset a focused boxers blue print to the point of ineffectiveness and that would only add to his chances of beating PBF.

Not to get off subject but I just can't picture Cotto losing to Margo.
