If Margarito beats Mosley, does he take over the vacancy as "THE" welterweight champ?

    With Paul Williams moving up to junior middleweight, does a Margarito win over Mosley make him the lineal welterweight champion, or does he need to beat Cotto in a rematch for that to happen?

    Well, if he beats Cotto in the rematch, he'll win the ring magazine belt. As far as him being the lineal champ, that depends on how you define the lineal champ.

    He already did that. If Williams is still fighting at 147 then Margo wont be the MAN until he beats him.

    Since when did Paul say he was done at 147?

    If Margarito beats Mosley it means absolutely nothing. As long as Williams is still fighting at 147, the true WW champ will always be disputed.

    if Williams moves up then in my eyes MArg has to beat Clottey and Berto to become champ.

    No he isn't Paul Williams is his daddy. Williams has more claim to being the man at 147 than Margo does since he beat him.

    You need to read his interviews better. He clearly said he will still make 147 if Margarito signs the contract, his fights above are just happening as stay busy and active fights.
