If Margarito beats Mosley, does he take over the vacancy as "THE" welterweight champ?

I think it is the case. Paul can't fight the top 3 names in WW. Berto is too green to matter, Cotto has always refused to fight him, and Margarito won't give him a rematch.

Clottey made the offer, but HBO rejected it, so that couldn't come together. I'm sure if HBO wanted it, Paul would have made that fight and at least two belts would be unified.

I said it in a thread about Margarito beating Mayweather. this is before the fight was officially put back on though.

 

If Williams dominated or stopped Margarito then I hear what u r saying. Williams beat MArgarito on a VERY narrow decision. Some had it a Draw and some had Antonio winning. With that being said, they NEED to rematch!

 

SSM is just a "name" to beat right now and a sturdy test for a young champion.

 

He didn't beat him on a narrow decision and only idiots had the fight a draw.

Williams clearly won rounds 1 -6 and 12, that is 7 rounds in the clear right there, not to mention rounds 7 - 11 that could have gone either way.

If you consider Williams a WW....then No he is not

but if you dont....then Yes he is

 

He will have beaten Cotto and Mosley so I think he should.
