Actually, Boo posted a clip and it appears the last uppercut grazed Espino and it was the punch before that did him in. The first two KD's were solid upper cuts though.

The Margarito/Martinez fight is irrelevant. You really can't look at something from nine years ago, and use that as a basis for analysis. I'd suggest sticking to the Cintron and Williams fights.

Martinez has several bad habits that play right into Kelly's game. He does not keep his hands up. He tires under pressure, and he backs up in straight lines after he starts getting tired. He also has a tendency to get a little sloppy when he jumps in to throw a combo. KP by KO. However, Martinez stands a good chance of becoming the first guy to make it past 9 rounds with Pav at 160. I don't think he will, but that could happen.

No offense to Martinez, who does have some skills, but he's definitely being overrated off the Williams fight.

Yes -- sergio is being massively over rated since the PW fight. It's an old trick the calzombies perfected. turn your man's past opposition into all time greats!

With what? How? Is there a special stipulation that allows Martinez to use a baseball bat?

Martinez is a junior middleweight with a 50% KO ratio against questionable opposition. Stupid assertion. Martinez won't even get 30 seconds worth of respect from Pavlk.

Now Boo, I alos think KP KOs SM, but SM showed decent power against PW and it would probably be wise of KP not to overlook it. Especially because the SM/PW fight was at 160.

this is kind of a wind up thread...asking about a fight from nine years ago.

martinez is a tough matchup for a lot of people but just b/c he gave williams a hard fight doesnt make him an atg.

Martinez is a tough match up for anybody at 154, or for a lot of guys at 160. He gave Williams a rough night, but that does not automatically mean he can give Pavlik a hard fight.

It is now very clear that PW has no chin above 147. In addition, there is only one fighter at world title level who has worse defense than PW, and that is Carl Froch.

Pavlik has a WAY better chin than Williams, and he is much harder to hit with flush shots. KP is no defensive wizard, but he's much better than Williams on that front.

Froch is indeed the gold standard for "easy to hit" in the MW ranks. :good
