If Margarito isn't next, who wins between Paul Williams vs. Michael Jennings?

Dan Goossen, Paul Williams' promoter, has offered $4 million guarantee for a rematch with Antonio Margarito in the first quarter of 2009 against 50% of the revenue. Goossen also said that if Bob Arum rejects any part of the agreement, Arum can flip it and flip it and that he will accept the same terms. However, Arum says that Williams will most likely not be Margarito's next opponent because of bad blood with Williams's advisor, Al Haymon. So if Margarito-Williams II does not happen, Williams will face his next mandatory challenger Michael Jennings of England for his WBO title. So who is this Michael Jennings and what is his tale of the tape? Who wins this fight? Will it even be competitive between Williams and Jennings? Or is there unforseen upset in the making here, derailing a possible rematch between Margarito and Williams?

It's not going to look good if team Margo rejects that Williams fight.(provided that Margo can't land a fight with Hoya).

Oh yeah, thats true. This fight wont help Paul out really, and he'll catch some criticism for it. But it wont look good for Margo either

If Margarito rejects him (I think Arum does the choosing though), I feel sorry for Jennings as Williams will be beating up on him as to say to Margarito, "This one is for you!!!"

didnt Margo get less than 2 mill for fighting Cotto?

I cant imagine Margo getting more for the Williams rematch with any other fighter except Mayweather and DLH.

exactly. thats a good example of promoters screwing over fighters. thats why everyone wants dlh or pbf

Wow little Michael Jennings eh? Real big step up in class for Williams.

Glad to know he's looking to make a statement seeing he can't get Margarito.

To be fair to Jennings though, he at least won his last 2. :rofl

dont hate on the man. He wanted pavlik, he wanted margo, the other good welters wont fight him. Hes not avoiding anyone. So he may have to fight jennins who is his mando.

Well, if Pavlik fought either Williams or Margarito, would any one of those two stand a chance against the middleweight champion?

Jennings is a solid fighter with an OK punch and a good defense, but then so was Gary Locket. I think Jennings will get a similar type of beating to the one Pavlik handed out.
