Would this validate his career and help lift him into the hall of fame or...

Is the handwrap incident too much to overcome, in your opinion?

HOF? for what beating cotto...he lost a lot of his big fights....PW beat him at his own game, his move up to 154 was embarrassing

then the handwrap thing is terrible

one nice win doesnt make you HOF worthy, especially with a tarnished record due to cheating

To be honest.. Margarito doesnt have anything to win in this fight...

Its pac whos challenging himself.. It would be really hard for me to take credit for fighting some1 who is 6-9 inches shorter than me.

Well, considering rightly or wrongly Tarver gets some "borderline" HOF talk simply because he holds 2 wins over Roy Jones and Ken Norton is in the Hall mainly because he beat Ali once...and some would say all 3 times and gave Larry Holmes a very tough fight. So there is some precedent. If you beat up on a "best of the era" type fighter (obviously, before Floyd fans get up in arms, Floyd is a "best of the era" type fighter too).

At the end of the day, his resume, especially if he beat Pac would look pretty good. He'd have beaten Pac,Cotto, and Martinez...and then dropping down a level..Clottey and Cintron(2X). The Pac fight, if he won, would be the cake and those other victories would be the dressing for his case.

However, the handwraps issue is a huge contraversy to be considered.

EDIT: at any rate, I never said he'd be in if he did win(even without the handwraps issue)...I'm not one to say. I just said "would this HELP lift him" meaning would this bolster his name into consideration. I presume you don't view his resume as worthy and that's fine...the basis of my question is simply this: Is the handwrap issue too much to overcome no matter what he does?

this fight is fixed man...no way marg wins...this is only going to good for 2-3 rounds so that fans can be cool then after that pac destroys him and makes pac look unstoppable...arum will not let his cash cow lose

if he gets inducted into the hall of fame after the hand wrapping incident, then the hall of fame is a joke. that hand wrap incident casts a shadow over all of his accomplishments in the ring, and for that it is irreparable, even though he was never caught using them in a fight.

:patsch you DO know that margarito is a 6-1 underdog in this fight, right?

beating pacquiao maybe wouldn't make him HOF worthy...but it sure as hell would redeem him a lil bit imo

    A lil bit????

    It would totally redeem Margarito.

Margarito has been accused of winning through plastering in his previous fights......Cotto, Cintron, come to mind......and boxing journalist like the broadcast team at HBO have outright pointed the finger that Margarito has been sucessful in the past strictly becaue he cheated.

Margarito is going to be heavily scrutinized when he wraps his hands for Pacquiao. So we all know his wraps will be legit. In fact, by the time Freddy Roach is through dictating to the NSAC the ammount of gauze and how to use it on Margarito's hands, Margarito's hands wraps might end up feeling like pillows.......

......so yes, under those circumstances if Margarito ends up repeating to Pac what he did to Cotto and brutalizing him, you can be sure as there is a hell that Margarito will be totally vindicated.

If Margarito ends up rearranging Pacquiao's face as he did Cotto, Margarito will be totally vindicated.
Innocent of having plastered in the past.

    End of story.

Stupid post from a stupid poster

Attempting to assault someone with a lethal weapon is redeemed by winning a fight.

Not surprising coming from a typical garbage raider fan such as yourself.
