If Margarito wins against Cotto.....

which is highly probable, but unlikely, will Mayweather fight him or will he find a way out of the fight?

Possible excuses:

"Who's Margarito? He doesn't have a fanbase."

"It shows that Cotto wasn't anything special. What will these guys do to increase my legacy?"

"Margarito lost to Williams. He needs to rematch Williams to fight me."

OR

Will Mayweather salivate at the opportunity of beating a guy that ESB's own Pimp C says, "Is slow, throws wide punches, and has no tallent. Easy win for Floyd."

PERSONAL NOTE

I think Floyd would beat Margarito, but it would be the hardest fight of his life unless he fights Cotto. After seeing Cotto's versatility demonstrated against all the fighters he's faced thus far, and especially the ease at which he slipped in and out of orthadox and southpaw against Gomez, Cotto would definitely give Floyd the hardest fight of his life and I'm even leaning on having the ability to beat Floyd. It's a 50/50 fight.

Anyway, on the topic of Margarito. Margarito is big, strong, and tough. He'll throw Floyd around and Floyd will have a lot of trouble keeping him off of him. Margo has a good chance at beating Floyd too.

BTW: If I'm Floyd I don't fight either of these guys. I go for the money.

It's possible.

His uppercuts are lethal and he'll be looking to land those on Cotto every chance he gets.

I'm just hoping that Cotto's is fast enough to get in and out and powerful enough to keep Margarito a little tenative. Hopefully some combinations to Margarito's body will have that affect.

I have a feeling that Cotto will also fight out of the southpaw position for a lot of time in this fight. It may create an uncomfortable distance and make it more difficult for Tony to land his uppercuts. He'll have to lunge in to land a right one unless Cotto fights him out of a phonebooth, and it will be difficult to land a left flush unless Cotto leans right into it.

 

I don't agree.

If Floyd decides not to fight him, (high probability), he could face the winner of the Quintana vs Williams fight, and if that's Williams so be it......

BUT

I think Margarito deserves a good payday and that he earned his right to fight the champ especially since Floyd turned down the highest payday of his career and paid arum $750,000 not to fight him when he was the highest ranked welterweight aside from Baldomir who was made for Floyd and was nothing special.

 

If Mayweather does go for the money, and neglects to fight the winner of this fight, I'll lose a lot of respect for him as a fighter, especially considering I think he would beat both of these guys.

I think he's afraid of a war, but all the greats have been in atleast one war or another.

I guess I can't blame him though because who would want to go through that?

His place among ATG's will fall significantly in my eyes though. In contrast, if he fights and wins against the winner, hopefully Cotto, I'll consider Mayweather easily as one of the best ever to be in the game.
