The layoff might bring him trouble, even Mayweather his self said that he doesn't know since this is his first long layoff in the sport. About the weight we can only predict/assume and I can't blame people for saying he won't do good since it's ALWAYS negative to the majority of fans whenever a fighter jumps in weight.

older guys usually have a hard time cutting weight or draining themselves to make weight. it therefore gives them a benefit when they go up in weight. but jmm came in 140 in his most recent fight @135. this means jmm is still a relatively small lightweight and can easily make 135 without any problems whatsoever. but also we can already see jmm being slower and getting hit a lot more @135 compared to his 130 and 126 days. it can therefore be a lot worse for him @140+ weight classes. for me, jmm is a natural featherweight (126-130 lber) and it seems that 135 is already his ceiling. i hope i'm wrong though.

I hear you. This fight can definitely help Marquez much more than Floyd so it truly is a golden opportunity. Floyd is older coming off a layoff which will do him no favors.

I don't know how Marquez will look, but he will feel great I'm guessing. Since he has been weighing above 140 fo many fights, the jump to 147 against a guy who is not a full ww will not hurt him against a guy who is a natural ww. Marquez is so skilled though that he will always be in every fight...even with Floyd. Marquez is one of my favs in the history of this sport, and I like him just as much as Floyd. I don't want to see him stopped or see this fight, but they are fighting, and I'm glad Marquez is getting paid.

He can he will just have to overcome more than he ever has before. This is arguably the two best technical guys of their era going at it.

Marquez while slowed has showed a great offense and he has such a strong desire to win. I can't see him just getting pushed over his pride is too much.

at this point, it would be a losing proposition for jmm to fight hatton. after hatton suffering devastating KO losses to both pac and mayweather, jmm could be accused of fighting their leftovers and that will not get him any legacy even if he wins.

hatton will also weigh around 10+ lbs more than jmm during the fight. and to adjust to the higher weight (140) will add to jmm's disavantages going into this possible fight. a hatton upset is therefore not beyond the realm of possibility. a loss to hatton will greatly damage his legacy. so, it's therefore a damn if you do and damn if you don't situation for jmm when it comes to hatton.

This fight will end in a contraversial split decision. Marquez always makes great adjustments while in the trenches. Marquez is also one of the most accurate, pin-point punchers in the game.

That's the point of this fight, the winner gets Pacquiao.

How has Pacquiao proven more powerful at the higher weights?

Lets see, needed about a 1000 clean connects on David Diaz before he toppled......

......close to the same connects in 8 rounds against DLH, but DLH legs never did a number......

Oh, I see, Pac knocked out glass Joe with a single shot!

Marquez is a warrior He will put on a good show. I don't think the weight will bother him that much. Floyd will most likely outpoint Marquez though and possibly stop him.

hmm... if diaz just had some power in his punches, he could've had jmm in a whole heap of trouble in those early rounds.
