I dont think so. He would still have enough fights left and make a good amount of cash. Rios, Khan or Bradley would still fight him. Look at Toney, Jones and Holyfield. Marquez only lost to the best. Now if he gets KTFO like Hatton, his ass can retire.
Fair enough. I just want to put ESB's opinion on record before the fight. We know very well that if Marquez is indeed stopped early in the fight (round 1 -3), there will be a lot of threads here saying that JMM needs to retire from boxing. So before the fight, is the sentiment of ESB the same?
Hell no. It'll be the first time to have ever happened in his career, and it'll be against an ATG that's a beast on current form. Hardly a reason to hand up the gloves for good when you still have a lot of fight left in you.
I think this is a real possibilty. But it wouldn't mean he has retire, that would overreacting. Pacquiao is just a monster right now and Marquez would still be the best lightweight in the world.
Marquez is still the lightweight champ. He could go to 140 if he wanted or could go back and fight Rios. Losing to Pac, a prime ATG, is no death sentence.
While there are other fights with nice purses out there for him, Juan would have nothing else to prove. The pac fights pretty much define his career and there is no doubt he is still the best lightweight in the world. Rios would more than likely be his next opponent but this would be meaningless to him with Rios having everything to win so why be a stepping stone. Dont get me wrong tho he still puts a whooping on Rios. Outside of Pacquiao there is no other fight out there for him that will have as much impact on his Legacy so retirement is not out of the question. No need to mention his age right???
Pac should stop JMM but I predict around 5-9. JMM will shock the world win or lose but his guts may be his downfall though I'm still rooting for him regardless. Early or not the odds I think should favor a Pacquiao ko/tko. If he doesn't stop Marquez at this point he's horrible. Already horrible for fighting drained fighters(DLH, possibly Cotto), a neverwas(Clottey), and faded fighters(Barrera in rematch, Morales, and possibly JMM IF Pacquiao wins which he should). JMM is a warrior so it will be a fight with good action however it lasts but him getting decked by Katsidis bothers me when it comes to predicting how he takes Pacquiao's power. He's still king at LW regardless what happens this Saturday.
If a ROIDED up MARQUEZ gets stopped, then A SIDE meff is more powerful than HEREDIAS undetectable ROIDS. :hat
