If Marquez landed the punch Maidana did. Would Floyd have been sleeping?

    Hey all.

    So, after watching Floyds fight with Maidana again recently, I remembered that amazing shot the Marquez landed flush on Pacquiao's mandible. We all know how that went down.

    Seeing that Maidana had Floyd on queeer street with his shot, do you think that Marquez would have had him sleeping too?

    What do you think?

    Personally, I dont rate Floyds chin as great as some. It is solid, but i dont think it is uncrackable. It is rare to see Floyd hurt (because of his undeniably great defence) BUT when he has been hit clean we have seen from Maidana, Mosley and Judah that Floyd can be rocked.

    NO. mayweather isnt going to go in head first with his whole weight shifted foward into a counterpuncher, pacman made a big mistake there, perfect shot from marquez. Maidana was hit mayweather trying to counter, not trying to buzzsaw and leap in as pacman does.

    I think you are interpreting it the other way around.

    I wasn't asking for the opinion on what you think would happen if Floyd was in Manny's shoes as, like you said, Floyd wouldnt have put himself in that position.

    I was talking about what do you think would have happened if Marquez was in Maidana's shoes when he landed the right hand. As in, right there and then, if Marquez was the one who threw that exact punch, what do you think the outcome would have been?

    Well it was at the end of the round, i think he may of stumbled like he did, take off a rounds rest and proceed to easily beat marquez. Floyd has great recuperative abilities and knows what to do when hes hurt, hold on for dear life. :deal

    I think his response was relevant.

    I don't think Marquez necessarily showed exceptional power at welterweight thus far. Both of the punches he dropped Pac with were well timed, Pac back-pedaling off balance and Pac jumping in. Maidana caught Mayweather on a counter, but standing in overall good position, which is why he didn't go down; he had his feet under him. Marquez has not dropped a high level welter other than Pac, so no reason to think he would drop Mayweather.

    If Floyd took the exact same shot that KO'd Pacquiao, he wouldn't have beat the count. That was a great punch.

    Mosley hurt PBF more than Maidana did and had half a round left and couldn't drop or finish PBF off. PBF even still walked forward and went on offense. PBF can recover fast and has a good chin. He doesn't get stopped like Pac who has been stopped 2 times previously.

    Marquez wouldn't have had the opportunity to land such a punch. Floyd dominated him when they fought.
