If Marquez was "too small" for Mayweather, Isn't Pac as well?

Pacquio has the speed and crazy angles that Marquez doesn't have, I don't really know how you can say he's less equipped.

I do believe Pacquiao is too small for welterweight though. The Cotto fight will tell us if Pac-Floyd is worth beating the drums for. I personally don't care for Floyd picking on smallish fighters. He should be fighting Mosley, Cotto, Williams, Cintron...welterweights in other words.

 

It wasn't even so much that he was too small but he didn't have the right style .... Marquez's timing/ punch accuracy with his counterpunching is tailor-made to fight aggressive fighters like Pacman .... and it couldn't be further from the best style to beat Mayweather ...

I think if anyone beats Mayweather ( IF ) .... it will be a speedy, aggressive fighter who has power ( Like Pacman ), Or someone who can apply pressure and use strength and size to cut off the ring and throw to the body (like Castillo did somewhat) .... I think Mosley & pacman could both beat Mayweather or at least they have a better chance than any of Floyd's previous opponents.

 

IMO Floyd was at his best at 140. He'd always been a pretty big SFW and Lightweight, but at 140 he looked unbeatable.

He still looks pretty unbeatable but IMO will have a hard time fighting some of the bigger guys in the division.

 

JMM would have won a UD vs Oscar though I dont doubt for 1 bit that Oscar may have KO'd him too. Manny was too fast on his feet for Oscar, JMM was never too fast on his feet.

Hatton would have mauled JMM. Think how much trouble JMM had with another pressure fighter in Juan Diaz...now Hatton is a level above Juan Diaz. You only need to look at their fights with Paulie Mallignagi to see who the better of the 2 pressure fighters is. JMM above 135 is useless, infact hes struggle with an acient casamayor and life and death battle with Juan Diaz should have shown that.

Ive watched so many JMM fights and opponent aside, the way he moved and threw his punches at 147 just didnt look right. He should have cleaned out 135 instead.

 

Floyd will destroy and embarass Pacman if they ever fight.

 

I only hope Pac Knocks out Cotto brutally so he may be a favorite over Floyd.....I'm betting big on Mayweather if thats the case.

 

You don't understand it? :huh It's very, very simple.

If a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight ever happens, it will be because Pac has beaten Cotto. By then, that will mean Pac has fought at 140 or higher three times, and won all of them. He looked brilliant against Oscar at 147, looked brilliant against Hatton at 140, and will have to be brilliant to beat Cotto at 145.

Therefore, Pac will already have proven to be an elite level fighter at and above 140 before he fights Mayweather... above 140.

Marquez had had 2 fights at 135, and none higher. He had not even proven he had the physical frame to be able to perform effectively at 140, never mind above that weight.

PAc and JMM are two very diff. fighters with different skill set. Plus pac has fought at this higher weight and looked good even though against fighters not on PBF's level.

Pacquiao has actually looked better in moving up in weight, Marquez has looked more sluggish, Manny`s body handles it way way better & he holds victories over Hatton (similar size to Floyd) & DLH (bigger than Floyd) & he did a quicker job on both, Marquez hasnt done anything that will make anyone believe he could have a realistic chance vs Floyd, Floyd`s 2 yr lay-off was the ONLY reason I never put my entire families life savings on a Mayweather win.

JMM did not handle the weight jump very well, he looked fat, slow and old. Manny has handled the weight great, I believe WW is too much for both fighters, but Manny has been stopping everyone and if he gets past Cotto (big if) Mayweather needs to fight him.
