not ONE win of chavez would be greater but his entire career, unbeaten run, ground breaking titles in three weight classes and love of the entire nation put him on another step
If he beats him and then Pac I would maybe think that. Although Marquez is a more talented boxer as far as skills and athleticism is concerned--Chavez was simply so dominant. Chavez would ignore pain and just smash people to pieces. Chavez punching power was consistent in all 12 rounds his power never waned the longer the fight the longer the torture. I remember some chump told him that afterwards he was going to celebrate a Chavez victory with a steak and not only lost but suffered a busted jaw! I like Marquez but Chavez was better!
It could be one of the best wins of all time, catapulting Marquez into an entirely different stratosphere in the all time ratings. Not that all this hypothetical talk really matters, as the odds of it happening are slim and none. Not to mention it's futile to attempt to rate an accomplishment before it even takes place, considering we know nothing about the circumstances of it, nor have we had the time to be able to properly analyze the significance of it with hindsight.
Rosario, Taylor, Mayweather II, Jose Luis Ramirez, Camacho, David Kamau, Mario Martinez, Haughen, Holligan 1. Rosario 2. Taylor 3. Camacho 4. Jose Luis Ramirez (in previous match he beat Pernell Whitaker) 5. Mario Martinez (took his O and destroyed the prospect) Honorable Mention : Chavez Mayweather 2
No, he didn't, and by that time he was already past his prime. Not to mention it was well known that Chavez was a level ahead even going into the fight and basically carried Ramirez until the cuts stoppage. They were friends and former stable mates, after all. Hardly a significant win all things considered. More of a high profile record padder for Chavez.
