if chavez had beaten whitaker or actually gotten a draw, it would have been comparable. as it stands it's his career as a whole that does it

because ramirez was still a quality fighter who was completely outclassed by chavez (sorry i meant the chavez vs ramirez was a good win, not ramirez vs whitaker)

A win over Mayweather Jr. will be Mexico's biggest win since Margarito Vs. Cotto.
Under the circumstances this fight would put JMM not only in MEX top gun's.
    but prob ATG talks (List).

That said, it also depends on how high in regards people carry Floyd.

Chavez got a draw against Whitaker! It seems you guys need to look at Sweet Pea's record.

So then you would agree that Marquez beat Pac twice or do you pick and choose or would you say that Castillo beat PBF?

good question actually. i think both marquez-pac fights were close and i have no objection personally to people saying marquez beat him both times: totally reasonable. same with castillo-pbf (though i've never scored it). however, being that they were so close, I also have no problem using the "official" records: either guy could have taken it so no biggie.

in cases of whitaker-ramirez and whitaker-chavez the official scores were wrong and i disregard them. people were paid in both instances or were completely incompetent so there scores are irrelevant to me

You are picking and choosing I have to call you out on that ....Castillo PBF I was not even close Castillo won by at least 2 pts. I guess only you can arbitrarily decide what was fair and what was not...as it stands its a win and a draw against PBF history will not remember our opinions.

Marquez-Pacquiao and Castillo-Mayweather were close. Whitaker-Chavez was a massacre, I gave Chavez two rounds.

absolutely. BUT for the purposes of the discussion i cannot give chavez credit for a draw against whitaker; in that we are implying he performed better than he did.

when comparing what a LEGITIMATE win against mayweather would do for marquez's legacy it's unfair to discuss chavez's draw since it was bought. to say he drew with whitaker is to say he was just as good as pea that night, he wasn't.
