If Martinez is fighting Pavlik.... will Rhodes get a crack at his vacant title?

He's only 23 and had no amateur experience there's plenty of time for him to make a move thing is top rank have built him up to PPV status. They are only putting pressure on themselves, i haven't seen too many Chavez is ready to step up threads on the general. He needs to step up to fighters like Joel Julio or Bundrage before getting a title shot. Although they might cash in on him but i don't think too many in the US would buy Chavez Vs Rhodes

Would comfortably sell-out this place, though:

As I said, I think it's **** or bust at the moment. People are getting fed up with it and he is now also in a position where he has been gifted a ranking to fight for a title. I think Top Rank might push for the title if Martinez vacates. If not then they will probably never step him up which makes no sense whatsoever seeing as they have got him in this position to begin with.

Are you all missing one important thing ?
Chavez failed a drugs test after his last fight and is facing a ban.

    My dream scenario:
Martinez beats Pavlik & decides to compete at middle, seeking out a rematch with Paul Williams.
Ryan then faces JCC or Cintron for the vacant title. And wins of course.
    Cotto returns & demolishes Foreman.
Ryan & Cotto face of for the WBC/WBA titles.
A little far fetched I know, but you can hope ...

What are they doing with that i haven't heard a word about it since it was announced.

Either way a lot of this depends on Cintron as well as he is number 2. Would love to see Rhodes get a crack at Chavez but Chavez isn't ready and has a lot more years of boxing in him. The WBC messed up i think ranking him when he isn't really anywhere near world level and hasn't fought anyone anywhere near that level. A bit like Duddy vs Pavlik talk one bad fight against Smichet and Duddy went down the rankings Chavez struggles with Vanda, Cuello and looks terrible against rowland but keeps his high ranking.

The Nevada State Commission have yet to give their ruling on Chavez.
Cintron is still considering his options - mainly whether or not to go up to Middle.
Ollyc - I like your thinking pal !!!

the last time I saw Chavez live on Sky (think it was Pac-Cotto undercard) he was truly rotten.

He was getting booed from the crowd and the commentators basically said he is living off his dad's surname.

He needs to face Rhodes to redeem some credibility.

Margorito is now ranked ahead of Rhodes in the latest WBC rankings.
