Hey pal.... the belt he and vargas fought for was a b.s. belt don king used to hype the fight.(I thought it would be good when i heard of it)
Of course mayorga doesnt get in on his resume alone, even if he beats cotto. But there is a larger factor at play here and that is his popularity/fame in the sport. You guys can deny it all you want, but the fact is that fame or infamy in Mayorga's case plays a big role in his career as a boxer. So, if we add that X factor of infamy into the equation and he beats cotto, well then you have a legitimate discussion.
Hall of fame?? He still lost to every good fighter he fought. Mayorga will never make the hall of fame. Very limited fighter with no defense. Also, we are not even sure Cotto will make the Hall of Fame.
:good It is indeed the Hall of Fame, not the "Hall of Talent" or the "Hall of Consensus Greatness According to Historians/Fans/Pundits" - as much as people would like it to be either or both of the latter in practice.
Mayorga said when "on the ropes" that he should be inducted "after he beats cotto and pac" so there you have it ,he himself doesnt believe he should be inducted to the HOF by beating cotto alone....END THREAD!!!
