one of the best,i think most people overlook the fact that floyd is really a 130 pound fighter and beatin cotto would really cement his legacy.

mm i see what you mean, but surely cottos the more natural welterweight, and mayweather did not move to welterweight due to the inability of making weight at the lower classes (he couldnt make SW anymore but could defintly make LW).

He's also proven himself to be the "bigger man" against the world's best Light-Welter.

I'm satisfied that he's a 147 fighter now, although of course sublime physical attributes make things a little easier for him!

If he beats Cotto it would solidify him as top 30...then for him to be in the top 10, he needs to go to 154 and beat Winky...IMO

no he either cleans out the division or at least beats cotto, mosely, and margarito. no matter what he does hell never be better than sugar ray leonard. leonard beat hearns, duran, and hagler among others. mayweather will never have that kind of resume.

Exactly, he could have fought Tszyu at 140, Moseley etc...

Analyzing his career will be full of what ifs. A true great you are astounded by their achievements not questioning the validity of them.

there have been many boxers who are better? as far as what? fighting other hall of fame fighters? record? impact on the sport? technical skills? defensive skills? what are you referring too? PBF is one of the best boxers to ever grace the ring in skill. He has taken less punishment than probably any boxer ever, he has only been down once, and he dominates every opponent he faces.....are you saying other fighters are better cause your biased? Lets be real here.....oh yeah and remember PBF is 3+ divisions over his original weight class......and for the person who made this post.....PBF doesnt have to beat Cotto to prove anything.....If mayweather retired today he would be in the Hall of Fame....if Cotto retired today he would be a "hey u remember that one puerto rican dude from back in the day"

A fight with Zoo was nearly impossible PBF is a HBO fighter and Zoo was a Showtime fighter. Not to mention Zoo losing to Hatton destroyed any slim chance of the fight coming off.

There has never been a fighter with the smarts, physical ability and talent as floyd... period. Talent and ability wise maybe roy jones or sugar ray robinson or leonard. But no one has the defense to match the way floyd does. He has been in 39 fights and still to this date has never seriously been hurt. And you may get one shot in on him but I've yet to see anyone put together combinations consistently against him that could give them a legit shot at winning.

He could beat everyone is the division and many of you would still say he's not this and not that. The bottom line is if he beats everyone one he fights including Cotto or any other WW, he should be considered a top ten fighter of all time time. Especially if he wins the fights the way he has by not getting hurt of retires undefeated. Many of you want to see him lose and then come back to give him credit and boost him to a all time fighter which is ridiculous.
