Wow!! So you to lose first and come back in order to be great? Thats what your saying. the point of fighting is to win!!!! So because no has been able to beat him, he is considered to have a unfinished career? Its all bogus! Rocky Marc. is considered one of the greatest of all time by many. Why is he if he's undefeated? nonsense!! People want him to take all the risk and do more than others cause he hasn't lost. please!! tell others to become better fighters in his weight class. Don't blame him.

Your missing the point, Floyd is a tremendous fighter. no-one is saying he isnt. But he isnt an all time great in the opinion of many bcause of his resume.

People love gatti cause he sits there and gets his brains beat out when he fights. Thats crazy! Its not cause he is a great fighter. People want to see him lose or stand there and go toe to toe with someone. Why, if no one can beat him they way he fights then why should he adjust his style of what he does? Boxing is a sport. Its about hitting and not getting hit. Its not about brawling. If that what you want watch Kimbo. Or maybe many of you think floyd should fight him too to seal his legacy lol. What a joke

Tell me who Rocky marciano beat and his resume. And tell me how that resume is so much better than floyd.

Why not? What i mean is, if you haven't lost, then you haven't taken yourself to an obstacle that you just can not overcome. I consider Mosley a lesser fighter than PBF, but i also consider him more proven because he pushed himself over the limit, so he showed everybody how far he can take his abilities and that he's willing to go that far. And because he did that, he has some losses on his record. Mayweather hasn't put his talent to the test that severely. He's never had that fight were everyone said: "no way, this one's just impossible", that over the top, ridiculous accomplishment.
But to be fair, maybe i should have frased it differently and said:
Being undefeated means that you haven't taken yourself OVER the absolute limit. That better?

Better yet who has cintron beat? who has margarito beat? but if he fights these guys they will help his resume?? makes no sense. He beat DLH and Hatton. Both of them at the time were ranked number one or two in their division. So its not about who's on his resume. its just bout him fighting all these names regardless of who they have beat or how good of fighters they really are. Cotto I get. Berto I get. Both Undefeated. But even Berto hasn't fought anybody. But he has the potential to give Floyd problems IF he stays unbeated and continues to improve. Possibly Mosley cause of who he HAS beat. but anyone else makes no sense.

you dont cherry pick through divisions and become undisputed in 3 divisions and beat the champion of the 4th. Typical nonsense...

but hey, who knew, all those championships and all mayweather had to do to become great is beat margarito and spadafora... :patsch

??? That makes no sense. He is 5'8 154 pounds. What should he do gain 20pounds and fight JC or Pavlik? So he can make himself slow and off his game. Just to show people he is willing to take a unreasonable risk to be considered" great"? That ridiculous! He fights the people who are said to be the best around his weight class ad he beats them. He's the biggest thing in boxing right now. If someone wants him or wants a shot it simple. Win!!! Then you can have a chance.

Margarito lost more than once. Cintron has lost and hasn't beat a top ten opponent ever in the WW division. So again if neither of them beat Cotto, and floyd beats cotto then what? He has to beat Margarito and cintron to be considered great? Or mosley even tho he lost to Cotto? Floyd can never win no matter who he fights. people just don't like the fact that no once in his class can beat him. I don't hear any of you asking why JC or Pavlik don't go down in weight to fight Floyd

Henry Armstrong started @126 and beat middleweights.
Roberto Duran fought Hearns and Hagler, who were ridiculously bigger.
Sure he lost to both, but at least he TRIED, and he did beat Barkley, who was also huge in comparison.
Robinson started out at lightweight, and fought LHW-champ Maxim, and would have likely beaten him if not for the heat.
Again, taking those great risks is what greatness is about.
But let me be clear before people misquote me: I have NEVER ONCE said that i don't think PBF is great, cuz he HAS taken risks and is the p4p best of this decade IMO. All i've been saying is that there's always more to accomplish (which is what this thread is about) and that i'm not sure retiring undefeated would be the best thing for his legacy.

So Floyd should just keep going and going until he finds a risk where either he losses or is willing to fight at a totally different weight class to be one of the all time greatest? Duran fought both of them and lost. You said it right there. You know why? cause it was a ridiculous thing to try and do. But because he was willing to take the risk, now he's considered great? thats not what defines greatness. Now maybe if he would have beaten one of those two that might be something different, but there was no way that was going to happen. Period. Stupidity and greatness don't go together.

Are you implying that Duran is not great?
