Would you move Mayweather to Pound for Pound number 1?

"If Mayweather performs better against Pacquiao in their next fight, who's number 1?"

    Yes or no?

    Sorry, that makes no sense.

    I think it's a non-issue myself.

Mayweather will get visibly hurt more than once against Ortiz, so even though PBF will probably still win a clear points decision due to his superior skillset, I doubt it'll be wide on the cards.

Pacquiao won't drop a round to Marquez, and will stop him.

Read the thread title. If Mayweather blows out Ortiz, and if Pacquiao has some trouble with Marquez even for a few rounds, does Mayweather move to the top?

i think both cases are expected. it depends really on how ortiz and jmm performed. if floyd dominated ortiz who put a lackluster performance while pac wins, drop a few rounds over a great/good performance by jmm then no way floyd is no. 1.

besides, floyd is not active enough imo to get into no.2 which martinez right now rightfully deserves. floyd's ranking is based on how is he percepted now and not enough actual accomplishments.

Fighting once and taking year long vacations (part-time boxer) in between and a retirement not too long ago is not the stuff of a P4P #1.

It would take several more great wins for Floyd and several more mediocre wins from Pac for Floyd to regain that #1 spot.

The majority of the wins Pacquiao has gotten to get pound for pound number 1 were over Mayweathers leftovers.

Ortiz is a better welterweight then Marquez, who Floyd already dominated.

Infact Pacquiao's last 2 opponents are guys who Mayweather already schooled.

For my money Marquez would beat Ortiz and is a better fighter and has the perfect style to beat Pacquiao

    so hell no.

If you're gonna consider Oscar one of Floyd's leftovers then you gotta consider Marquez one of Pacquiao's leftovers.

Marquez struggled with the power of Juan Diaz and Michael Katsidis. Dont see Marquez standing up to a true welterweight.

I mean that was a big ******* talking point. That Marquez vs Mayweather was a mismatch because of size. Saying Marquez would beat the number 3 welterweight in the world, basically makes Mayweather shut out over him that much more better.
