If Mayweather blows out Ortiz, and Pacquiao drops a few rounds to Marquez

I'd rather Pacquiao keep the number 1 spot. If Mayweather wants that spot, he can do it in the ring by beating Pacquiao. I mean who's the last guy to get that no.1 spot by beating the no.1 guy? It's a unique opportunity for Mayweather.

 

I'm talking about styles not speed, skills and talent. Mayweather and Marquez have very different styles.

I don't care. They need to fight eachother regardless. Pacquiao can keep that number 1 spot, and they can settle it in the ring.

 

Their stances are different. Their mindsets are different as well. Like you said one is more offensive, the other more defensive. Marquez also throws more combinations and isn't afraid to fight fire with fire. FLoyd is more about placing single shots and taking his opponent out of his comfort zone. Mayweather's defense is more about slipping and dodging (and deflecting) while Marquez relies more on his guard and creating distance. Yes they are both counterpunchers but their styles are very different.

 

Pac struggled against Marquez partly due to styles and partly due to weight drain. Pac has improved since their second fight and won't be cutting weight this time.

Pac fought Marquez at his best weights. Floyd fought Marquez at 144 (well, at least one of them did), the same weight *****s are fussing over, now that Pac-Marquez III is at that same weight, not realizing they are discrediting Floyd's win by saying Marquez is ineffective at 144.

So was Ortiz' performance in the 2nd half a result of mental lapses or endurance issues from cutting to 140? he obviously looks bigger and stronger at 147 but was his weight the actual issue for his performance?

In the Berto fight he kept coming and kept fighting Berto in a way Berto hasn't had to face with his handpicked patsy opponents HBO was okay with him fighting. The good moments in the fight showed Berto had SOMETHING to him but he couldn't keep Ortiz off of him so of course Victor had no problem keeping up his attack.

 

Roach said rehydrating 16 pounds was a big mistake as it made Pac sluggish. Yeah, look how healthy Pac looks at the weigh in...
