At what point does he have to prove that again,or that he still has it. Does he just keep the unquestioned imaginary title until he dies?
It is purely academic for me. Whether we actually give him the title or not, Floyd is the best fighter in the world right now. I would not put Floyd on a list if not in first place, so the question is only whether to include him or not for me.
I'm a fan of Mayweather but if he came back he wouldn't be the official #1 lb4lb fighter. He has to earn that spot back, which I think he would if he beat Pac, Tony, or Williams.
Floyd was the best but he isn't the best now and he's not the best fighter on the planet, he used to be so him coming back, he would need to prove himself again. Bernard Hopkins in my opinion deserves much more respect than Floyd, simply for the fact that this guy is a big risk taker, he has shown that he has balls over and over again by taking on the best fighters out there and at his age he has achieved a lot. Joe Calzaghe also deserves to be ranked right up there as I cant see anybody beating him. If P4P is ranked by skill level then Floyd wins this title hands down. If P4P is ranked by better opposition faced throught entire career then BERNARD HOPKINS WINS THIS HANDS DOWN, Floyd wouldn't even come close The reason why I wouldn't rank Paul Williams up there is because he beat Margarito and then lost straight away to Quintana. Pacman is number 1 right now no doubt... Peace...
watch Joe Suliman read this come out with a press release tomorrow. and say that the WBC is going to make a pound for pound belt. and envoke this. then the ibf,wba wbo follow suit and we have a splinterd p4p chapionship . eliminating all hope for ever haveing an undisputed P4P champion :yep
I don't think p4p means just skillset. And it also doesn't mean H2H. You have to include recent performance, quality of opposition, manner of winning, among other things, though mainly it is still subjective.
