If Mayweather doesn't fight Pacquiao he'll be making a great mistake.

Assuming that the terms of the fight are agreeable to Floyd Mayweather Jr. If he dose not chose to face Manny Pacquiao he will be making the biggest mistake in profisional career.
This is not a **** on Pacquiao thread. His greatness can not be denied. Mayweather happens to be better. Styleistictly Mayweather has the advantages as well.
Like I said Pacquiao is great and I'm not saying that to be nice, and yes I have been critical of him. That is mostly in comparsion to Mayweather.
For Mayweather there more chalenging fights if he choes to move to 154 or 160. In terms of ability, size and style. Sergio Martinez is probbly Mayweather's biggest challenge. If someone could get Paul Williams to use his height better would be an even bigger challenge. He would be very close to unbeatable but that is a topic for another time.
Before you point out Mayweather's trubble in round 2 with Shane Mosley. Remmber that Mosley has longer arms than Mayweather and Pacquiao.
To land that same shot or any shot on Mayweather. No matter what angle he comes in at. He has to get close to land on Mayweather.
Pacquiao is a come forward boxer who likes to overwhelm with his speed.
Mayweather is a counter puncher who is at his best with an oppoent who comes at him.
Manny Pacquiao is the perfect oppoent for Mayweather. This match up has Mayweather/Gatti and Mayweather/Hatton written all over it. Short of an onslought in the early rounds. I don't see how Pacquiao can win, let alone be compitive.
There is another reason not fighting Pacquiao would be a mistake that he will regret for the rest of his life. The reason is money. No not his nickname, but the stuff that pays the bills.
While fights with Williams and Martinez will make a lot of money. They won't match the money that can be made in fighting Pacquiao.
Espicaly when you consider the boxer's purses and the Pay Per View numbers.
This is a very winnable fight that will bring Mayweather money, respect and glory. Those are the things he seems to be after.

I agree with you that Mayweather kind of needs the Pacquiao fight for several reasons but I disagree that this match up is like Mayweather/Gatti and Mayweather/Hatton because first of all those guys are nowhere near Pac's level, and second Pac doesn't just come forward he goes in and out and side to side from different angles and can control distance very effectively, and also his southpaw stance will force Floyd to fight out of his comfort zone even though he is good at that its still something he wasn't faced with against Gatti or Hatton. Also Pac is alot faster than those guys they are like slow motion compared to him, especially Gatti who was pretty much shot by the time Floyd got to him and also wasn't even a come forward fighter anymore.

he might be able to dodge pac back in march but he should fight him this year now in november. the world has waited long enough. floyd should fight pacquiao now and get his easy money for an easy work and fight.

you're right. Mayweather MUST fight pacquiao. to be consider among the best, you need a great rival. and pacquiao is the best fighter right now. he beat pac and he would have beaten the best fighter of his generation. so it s a must he take the fight.

    Money!!!!

    Pacq has never 20 million!!!

Even if he did he would only walk away with 6 million!!

They all screamed 40 million for Floyd vs Emanuel.Arum walked away premature.Floyd made 40 million without Pacq.Pacq made about 4 million off of Clottey.

You should worry about Pacq's fight business!!He's getting screwed.

    Floyd is gonna be alright.

The fight most likely will happen and Floyd will make far more than Pacq even if it is a 50/50 fight.Floyd takes home far more of his gross income than Pacq can dream of.
