If Mayweather ducks Pacquiao now, he cannot be considered top 100 of all time

It's that simple. Someone who would duck their main, bona fide, #1 rival so blatantly cannot be considered an elite boxer. It's a disgrace to warriors like Robinson, Ali, Leonard, Hagler & Hearns. It's not something an all-time great does and therefore it denies them ATG status.

It's the only fight out there and it must be made. Mayweather doesn't conveniently need to discover his passport at this moment in time.

    If Mayweather ducks Pacquiao now???

I couldn't recall an event that Manny called Money out.

Mayweather Vs Pacquaio is not happening and people need to accept this already. Pac said he does NOT want to fight at 154 again and Mayweather will NOT move down. Roach was talking out of his ass as usual but he's not the one fighting... Manny is. Pacquiao is going on vacation and will come back at lower weight class like he should. Mayweather really should have taken the fight against Mosley because that's probably the biggest money fight out there for him right now. If Pac vs May ever does happen it will not be for a loooooong time.

I'm not saying it's happened yet. But if Mayweather were to find a way to avoid another genuine WW threat - and by far the biggest one at that - it would be to the severe detriment of his legacy. He's a legendary talent, and now it's time for him to back it up against a fellow great on a level playing field.

No cherry picking, no 'European Tour'. Not even Mosely would do now, unless Pacquiao is guaranteed and signed to be next. Just Pacquiao.

I'm one of the biggest Mayweather fans here like I'm a Pac fan but I'll try to be fair with this post and honest. At this point, Mayweather DOESN'T deserve a fight with Pacquiao. Pacquiao has done history, he's a SEVEN weight division champion, the man is not supposed to fight these guys, I don't even know what to say I have no words to describe this beast to be honest and might never have any words. I'm just glad that he's in my generation and I'm enjoying every moment of him, guys like that come once a generation or two or NEVER and I don't give a **** if anyone disagrees. You can disagree all you want but deep inside you know this is the truth.

At this stage Mayweather doesn't deserve a shot at Pac, why would he?, it's like getting everything for free and no I'm not saying Mayweather would beat him, hell no, I'm not counting Pac out even if he fights David Haye. To match what Pac did Mayweather needs to move up to middle and fight/beat Williams/Pavlik winner(if Pavlik's thumb heals anytime soon, which I doubt) then after that go up AGAIN and fight/beat the super six winner. See how insane that is and crazy?, this is what Pac is doing today for people who don't know what's going on or are blind. Then I would say a Mayweather fight would be reasonable, we all know Pac would sign to fight Klitschko if Arum sends him the contract without even reading who the opponent is with a smile. Can I say the same about Mayweather?, sadly I can't because he's all business lately while Pac is all history and ATG status. Right now, Pac is the #1 of this generation and guess what?, he's sitting on that throne with everyone WAY far away.

I think Pac's performance tonight is the best chance for the fight with Mayweather happening. I for one don't believe Mayweather is the hold up. It is Arum. But Arum wants to see Floyd lose his zero more than he wants to stiff him out of the money. And after tonight Arum believes Pac can beat Floyd.

Also, Floyd can demand the fight at the welterweight limit because Manny can no longer claim the Im too little I need a "catch weight " card.

The thread title is hyperbole, of course. Just a bit of a play on some of the forum's excesses. ;) But the point stands for the most part - to be one of those rare, absolute elite all-time greats Mayweather cannot go off swanning around Europe fighting hand-picked opponents in lieu of a Pacquiao fight. Either this one happens or....(stealing from Scar's post here...) he *does* do the seemingly insane and move up to middleweight..! That's the way he's got to go to be considered a legend rather than a legendary businessman.

Mayweather and Pac will meet at 147, where they each had their last fight.

    The split will be 50-50.

Pac has improved yet again and tonight was his best ever performance.

He is very clearly the greatest fighter in the world at the minute, and one of the greatest ever.

If Pac can pull off a victory over Mayweather (far from certain), he will be the greatest since Duran, possibly greater than Duran.

That would make him one of the top half dozen of alltime.

    THe man is a phenomenon.

I gotcha. Especially now that I read your entire post. The board is ridiculously slow and it cuts off posts.

There is now too much money on the table for either camp to ignore the fight. Way too much money for both sides to lose

Fight should be at 144 or 147 at most

You're talk nonsense. Mayweather doesn't deserve a fight at Pac-man? Who else should fight him. What else will be the biggest fight in boxing! Maybe Mosley has a better chance than Mayweather but honestly Mayweather is P4P #2 in most eyes.

I agree, Pac is clearly the best of his generation. But according to your logic nobody deserves a fight with Manny. Who should he fight then?

If Pac beat Mayweather, and then Mosely, he's up there near Calzaghe in my eyes.
