If Mayweather gets Cotto for May 5th the following things occur:

    1) We dodge Pacquiao / Cotto which is a horrendous fight because of styles and weight. I hear Pac camp doesn't want it over 147.

    2) Force Pacquiao to fight a better opponent. Pacquiao versus Bradley, Peterson, or Marquez are all much better fights. Personally, if Mayweather were to fight Cotto I think Pac getting a clear victory over Marquez would erase Pacquiao doubts and rehype the May/Pac fight.

    3) Get Mayweather versus Cotto which can be a pretty good fight at 154. Cotto seems to have regained his confidence since the Pac beating and shown lots of good tools that are effective against Mayweather in his last fight (strong jab, combination punching)

    4) Then hopefully after two good fights those mother****ers can finally come to an agreement and fight in November.

I'm hoping this is the way things turn out, because if Pacquiao gets Cotto that means two terrible fights. Pac / Cotto will suck and nobody wants to see Mayweather fight anyone else besides Pac, Martinez, and now Cotto.

i would much rather see cotto avenge his defeat to pac first because in their fight i believe cotto had lost to the scale and didn't have a team to help him in his corner then maybe we can get in line for cotto/mayweather in nov. lets not all forget that before pac & may people wanted to see cotto and may

Do you honestly believe the 1 pound compared to clottey was the difference maker? its not like edged him.
I do believe that with a better corner,a better mental state he will do better but he still needs to drop to 147 and then it will still be tough.

Not sure about the 1 pound.....but i do believe that with diaz in his corner, he will be much more competitive. Right now he is confident, he avenged his loss against margo so why not try to avenge the other? now...will he win, not so sure, but much more competitive.

Cotto's done, he has no heart. He doesn't deserve a fight with either....for what??? running away from a shot to ****, injured margarito? or was it the masterclass vs the even further shot Mayorga? If anything Cotto has looked worse since the first Pac fight. Dude has had his heart stolen twice, he's done for. Canelo would beat the **** out of him right now. I'd also pick the Ortiz vs Berto winner over him.

The 1 pound didn't hurt Cotto. His corner on the other hand probably did, he'd still lose in my opinion, they'd just be smart and throw the towel and protect their fighter, just like a good corner should do.

I dont think cotto will fight mayweather, i reckon he wants pac, besides i cant see pac wanting any other fighter. peterson is fighting kahn, i dont think bradley will step up and fight and JMM4? doubtfull

Yep, Cotto beating Floyd and Manny would put a poetic end to all this. Mayweather nuthuggers would have to kill themselves.. or start following a sport so removed from boxing, like synchronised swimming, since they believe so adamantly that Cotto is a bum

But if you compare Cotto from the pac fight and the Cotto from his last fight it's a big difference if you look at his legs. 154 seems to suit him well.
