What if he wins via a close, but clear UD because he just doesn't seem to have what he needs to compete at the elite level then decides to hang them up for good. Would any of you blame him and say he is ducking Canelo or just quitting at the right time?
Every fighter has the right to hang them up when they feel they don't have it any more. It isn't so much a duck as admitting their time is over. It'd be his way of saying "I'd whip him in my prime but now I'm too old"
Robert will make it a ugly fight. It depends how Floyd looks, speed, reflex, timing, and his willingness to engage. If he just starts to fight like bhop and smother and pot shots then he needs to hang it up.
I wouldn't blame him, but many would.. Those same people are the ones who complain after each opponent..
I feel people on this board would give anything to see this man lose, even if that means fighting prime stars well into his 40s. A little sad if you ask me.
I would hate to see him get beat up, if he struggles I think it will be evident and I would hope he would hang them up. People on here and youtube etc would be on his ass though....saying he ducked Canelo, he was scared, he never wanted the fight blah blah blah. But I honestly dont think Mayweather will retire undefeated, I think he will go on too long and run into the next young buck.
Floyd got mouths to feed. Too many leechers that needs him to be champ. He would need to fire them all if he wants to stay retire after his final few big paydays.
I would actually like to see Guerrero knock him out, but also think that Floyd, eventually, will lose. He'll get a call from the IRS, look in the mirror and see he's in good shape, and take a fight around age 40 against a guy who couldn't touch his prime....and lose.
I doubt Mayweather ever gets knocked out, defensive fighters rarely do - even past their prime and you better believe Robert has NO chance of doing it. Even so I think he will take just one fight too many.....it takes incredible discipline and awareness to retire at the right time and most fighters actually get it wrong.
