If Mayweather had a more crowd pleasing style, would he be adored as much as pac?

I know, why do you think I spent hours explaining what a counter punch was?

SD isn't a boxing city. Hell a sport city.

We also have a huge Filipino/Asian population. Mayweather has little chance to be popular here.

Dude, all of the bars here play every single UFC pile of **** fight, I call around for big boxing matches, even on basic HBO.... Nothing.

Makes me sick to my stomach.

It is SD. The place literally has no culture or sense of its own style. It just bobs to trends waiting for LA and TV to tell it what is "cool". If UFC is out? It will be something else at every bar.

Until you wake up to day... after day.... after day... of sunny weather!

I don't know it certainly woudn't hurt his popularity. His current style is only appreciated by a percentage of boxing fans, let alone casual fans. Now what I observed from watching Mayweather fight over his career, especially in his last 4 fights is his willingness to put it all on the line. He did knockout Hatton, but it took 10 rounds to do it. We saw how his skills dominated Mosely and Marquez, but he didn't even try to go for the knockouts.

When fans see this they instinctively think they didn't get their money's worth. It's like they're being robbed of something. And that's why Mayweather's style of boxing doesn't ENDEAR itself to many people.

Where as Pacquiao (in the tradition of Roman gladiators) is NOT holding anything back. As demonstrated in the Cotto fight and especially in the Clottey fight. Pacquiao was so far ahead in that fight by the 9th round he could have just danced the last three and still would have won the fight, but he didn't and DID everything he could to get the knockout. Even to the detriment to his ear. People love it when fighters put it on the line, it's a genuineness that the Pretty One doesn't have and has NO DESIRE to EMULATE...

Mayweather's KO rate is not far behind from Pac. Mayweather is not adored because he does not want to be adored. He wants to play villain.

It has nothing to do with being a villain. It's all about excitement and Floyd just doesn't put out exciting fights.

Tyson, for example, was considered somewhat of a villain but the man brought excitement into the ring.

Nope, he's hated not because of his style. He's hated because he's a *****! If he didn't become a giant ***** he'll be liked by a lot of boxing fans. :deal

Yeah. I think Tyson was an exception. I mean he backs up what he said. If he said he's gonna destroy his opponent, he will!

Mayweather on the other hand will make a bold statement and won't back up what he said. :patsch
