If Floyd beats Marquez then that would possibly mean that he's still the #1 fighter on the planet... but to actually earn the #1 p4p ranking again he'd have to go out and beat Pacquiao right after Marquez so he can prove it once and for all to the rest of the world.
He would still have to get past Manny in my eyes. Manny has done nothing but earn that title. Dear God, look at what this kid has achieved!
My take ........ Right now....1 JMM 2 Pacquiao IF Mayweather beat JMM convincingly... 1 Mayweather 2 Pacquiao If JMM beat Mayweather..... 1 JMM 2 Pac IF Mayweather beats JMM by the narrowest of margins.... 1 Mayweather 2 JMM 3 Pac Imo the only way Pac overtakes JMM is for Mayweather to clearly beat him.....if JMM suprises most people and shows he more than belongs in the ring vs Mayweather even in a losing effort, Pac imo will not surpass JMM in the p4p standings unless Pac then meets Mayweather and beats him fairly without controversy.
After Floyd beats up Marquez he can be rated 1 or 2. Could be either 1. He will end up fighting Pacquiao and it will be settled anyways.
NO F'ing way. He has to KO JMM for me to even consider putting him on the top spot. People have to understand the real meaning of P4P. Floyd is a legit WW. And he's fighting a smaller guy at a catch weight. Not until Floyd beats another legit top WW [KO or UD], no way he climbs into my top spot.
Boxing's P4P is not about KO's.......its about being the best! Remember Mike Tyson and Felix Trinidad.....most made the mistake of annointing them boxing's best p4p because they scored KO's.......turns out that Evander Holyfield who went the distance against a few fighters Tyson obliterated, and Hopkins and Winky Wright who could never be mistaken for KO assasins, were eons better than those KO assasins....... Pernell Whitaker was a p4p the best for awhile, and most would say he could'nt crack and egg.
Well judging from the fact that Pac never really beat JMM then Floyd would have done that. I think that floyd will move ahead of Pac... PS I would bet money that Pac and Floyd never happens. And it will be sad.
I'd be happy to have JMM at #1 if he were to beat Floyd. That would be an incredible victory, all things considered. If Floyd wins, I'd have him at #2 no matter what the manner of victory. Yeah, he's more skilled than Manny but you can't ignore all of Pac's achievements, which are superior to Floyd's. Pacquiao has taken more chances and proven himself in the ring - he's left no room for doubt as to how good he is.
:huh I beg to differ, Beatting JMM would surpass Pac since floyd beat the guys that Pac beat before, and at higher weights. I think side by side and unbiased one would find that the two resume are pretty equal, when you consider the timing of his figths with Morales, MAB and Oscar:good
I just consider Pac's victories over Oscar and Hatton to be more impressive than Floyd's because of how far Manny has travelled up in weight and the manner of the victories. When you take into account Manny's superior resume, I think Floyd has to beat Pac (or beat a few top welters) to move above him in the P4P rankings.
chris johns so called win over marquez was blown out of ****in proportion. if he still looks like **** against juarez the 2nd time, id say he can only win in indonesia i hope hes a real deal cause i want asian boxing to be recognized tbh
I do not think that it is possible that Mayweather loses; There is big money involved in Mayweather against Pacquiao.
No. JMM just moved to 135. Now he has to move up to 144. If Floyd wins it isn't nearly as big of an accomplishment as if JMM beats Floyd. If JMM beats Floyd I would still put JMM at #2, but I don't have JMM the winner of either Pac / JMM fight. I think if Floyd beats both JMM and Pac at 144 I would put him #1. However, it is't a dominant #1. Any of the other nine on the list, including the two he just beat, could easily eclipse him with wins against top guys at their weights and not career much smaller guys. Its pound for pound. If all you do is beat up on much smaller guys from lower divisions its silly. Can you really be pound for pound if you don't have wins against the top guys at your weight? For example, if JMM or Pac went on to fight and beat some top guys at 140 and FMJ kept grazing on the field of lower weight fighters and taking on top guys from 130 - 140 at 147 it wouldn't mean as much.
hell no, this fight should be labeled "The Battle For 2nd Place", bcuzz i wouldn't rank either guy higher then Pac if they won, and definitely not Floyd, he could KO him in the 1st round and i wouldn't give a ****
