I think there is alot that needs to be taken into consideration when considering p4p.

If Floyd wins he will be contending with MP for the #1 spot in p4p not a spot in a certain weight class. It will depend how JMM perform at this catchweight, if he still can manage his usual speed and carry up his power along with his stamina. Then it will also depend on the dominance of the fight to be calculated to how great Floyd really is.

A few things to look at in the difference between MP destruction of Hatton and Floyd supposed win over JMM.

1. JMM is definitely a better fighter than Hatton.
2. JMM is moving up in weight which we don't know how it will affect him.
3. MP moved up in weight to Hatton's most confortable weight.
4. The fashion in how the victory is won, and also against what type of fighter and style match-up.
5. This is for p4p not who is better at a certain weight.

So a few factors is yet unknown such as #2 and #4 which makes it difficult to answer who is better p4p.

Mayweather is already the best fighter out there. However, he won't get back on top of that p4p list until he beats Pac. Or, if Pac loses beforehand, someone like Mosley or Cotto.

 

Maybe Arum should have made Cotto sign the same type of contract.

Is there a difference? After the Clottey fight, he should face Shane or PW. He's had enough time to heal his wounds after getting his ass beat to death by Margarito.

 

Cotto is allergic to Paul Williams.

 

Pac is #1 til he loses.

 

I did not say it is all about KOs. I just said anything short of a KO with a JMM fight. Heck JMM is not even a 140lb fighter right now.

Since he really belongs to the WW division, he has to fight a legit WW and beat them in any fashion for me to even consider him at top of my rankings. He's a legit WW and has not even beaten any legit top dog of the WW divison. He has to prove himself there first to be even considered P4P. Having zero on your record does not mean anything as far as being current P4P is. It is your current form and if you were at any division. So how can I say he is the best if even with his own division, he has not proven anything.

 

Better question is, is there a similarty?

2nd Shane was offered a fight, he then turned it down, cuzz he ain't want it in NY...

If Mayweather beats Marquez who cares?He beat a boxer who is not in his best weightclass and is closing in on the end of his career.

I disagree. I don't believe you should ever be able to simply sit on a ranking. Theoretically it means Pac could just fight soft touches for the rest of his career and stay at #1. If Mayweather were to put a Pac-esque series of wins together, he can reclaim it.

I also believe that if Pac were to take an insanely hard fight, and lose in by close decision, he shouldn't automatically be turfed off the top spot.
